    Auto campus to manual F7p

    First post!

My renault 5 Monaco 1.4 auto, part 1

Having started my conversion 3 months ago I am now itching to get it completed. There are only a few vital stages left before shes back on the road!!

I started taking photos from day one, So i thought why not join RTOC and share my project!!

    Stripping down!!

First task was to take then engine out and give the bay a good clean. Now with me not owning a engine crane I managed to drop the engine out by taking the sub frame off with the removal of four bolts and little help from a freind. Once the engine was out the full exhuast system was removed along with the pedal box and gear selector.

Once the bay was clear I got a freind of mine to clean her up

    Heres the result!

Auto campus to manual F7p part 2

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Having completly stripped the bay the next step was to get a few parts ready to install back to the subframe so we can get the F7p installed

Few parts I had to gather were
A set of MK1 clio hubs, shafts, brakes and a non pas steering rack from a gt turbo

After a lick of paint to the rack it got installed to the sub frame along with the engine. and the car was lowered into position, I couldnt belive how easy it went in had it bolted in position within half an hour!!

Auto campus to manual F7p part 3

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

After fitting the new bushes to the anti roll and installing the new wishbones it was time to fit the hubs. I put the suspension on, disks and brakes to realize I have the wrong hubs!! The abs ones are slightly larger than the non abs. I now have the correct wheel bearings!! It turns out that there are two kinds of bearing sizes, non abs and abs making these smaller ones a real problem. Once the nut was tightened up the drive shaft wouldnt move so off it all comes again!!!

Auto campus to manual F7p part 4

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

So the new lower section of the column is now installed, the 1.4 auto had power steering the lower section of the column is shorter than the non pas, swapping it over was really easy took 5 mins

Plummed the radiator in after a battle to get it in, I almost gave in and got the grinder out but one more try turned out to be a miracle!! Just need to order a fan then ill be good to put the mount the front bumper.

Alternator belt on and tightened, previous owner of the engine had the mount made. The space availabe to move the spanner was minimal, the engine really is a snug fit!!

Thought id remove the fronts seat, they need a bit of TLC the leathers really stiff and they could also do with a clean.

Had some good news yesterday, my hubs are ready to collect!!

They have been a big problem with the progress due to them being seized in!!

Now the winter is drawing in, I need to get a move on. This weekend It will be off the axle stands and on my new pro race wheels then she will be ready to get wired up!

I should hopefully be getting my new exhaust bolts so I can put the scorpion on and some fuel hose to conect the new fuel tank up.

Will there be any issues with the 16v loom conecting to campus wiring??

I do know i need to get a a fuel pump conector, is there anything else I should watch out for?

    Thanks in advance

    Brakes on, flaring sorted!

The kit I purchased was a treat took a while to get to grip with how to use it, after that it was really easy to do

Was a bad idea to do the brakes after the engine drop the room for spanner movement was not to great! They now need bleeding, the pipe that goes from the vacuum servo unit to the engine needs extending then brakes will be sorted.

I borrowed a brake pipe flaring kit that Halfords sell. It wasn't very good and the die lost its end in one of the pipes!

For your info, it was standard suspension with gtt lower springs fitted for 1.4 auto Monaco that I sold it to you before the conversion you did on the engine 👍

Almost there now, little more progress today!!

Ended up swaping my gt disks to stock clio ones as they were to small. Front bumper on and lights, maybe needing some new indicators to as the clips have broke!!
Seats are also back in, finally starting to look drivable!
Off to hinkley to pick up a few finall parts tomorrow, then ill be puting the clio tank on exhaust then she will be ready for wiring up.
Thingers crossed all goes well then a trip to efi parts to get her running next week

    Cheers mate,

hoping to slowly get it fit for the track.

I rekon suspension kit is going to be the next thing for sure dont think the standard suspension will cope!!

Also thinking of getting a stand alone ecu and a complete rewire for piece of mind, most of the conections have seen better days!

Most recommend the Koni kit we sell in the shop. It's a good half way between road and track. PLUS you get big discount!

Cgb done a good job with my fresh indicators very quick delivery, I do like the clear ones but I rekon nice fresh orange ones will look a treat once ive wrapped my fogs in this yellow film!!

Also got my new radiator fan to fit on the weekend, that should be fun finding a free spot in that tight space.

Got the fuel lines all conected up just need to put fill her up.
The only place for new fan was behind the radiator by taking the air box off. Fitted the orange indicators to look a lot better than the clear ones.

Hopefully the weather starts getting better soon I can here the welsh roads calling!!

found a set of avo coilovers going for cheap, had to mooch to london but was definatley worth the drive as they are still adjustable!! Winner!!

Managed to get both rears on and one side of the front today.
The top mount on one side was completly seized to the suspension.

Another part to the list, roll on pay day!

Next challenge is to settle on a decent ride height!!
