Are you keeping the wheels?
yes mate keeping them. i know there not raider alloys but i like them.
Look like a nice car. Good drive home?
Very nice
I do like a nice raider.
Well done smithy, she looks like a nice example. Does it need anything doing to it, hold up its a 5 of course it needs work
Nice one chap - great drag stance.
thanks guys. i like the stance looks good. and nad lol of course lol
and the drive home was scary to say the least lol doesnt like puddles!!!!
No 5 dose I was coming back from hi 5glenns in Leeds down the m1 last year and it was pissing it down car full of wheels in the fast lane then aquaplaned across the motorway I was doing about 70 ended up in the gravel.. 20mph all the way back to Nottingham.. I will never drive in that weather again..
Looks sweet mate, no sunroof model too with Williams rims cant be bad! looking forward to more pics
thanks mate. cant take credit for anything its how i got her.
but she is cool!!!
having some issues though.
#heater fan doesn't work. i have narrowed that down to the resister! is there an easy way to replace or fix this??
#some little f@#cker pinched the trim under my drivers rear light cluster.
anyway hears some new pics.
How the heck did they nick the under light trim? It's bolted in! Did they snap it out?
I think it works like the Renault 21 one, usually if you bridge the smallest resistor it'll work again. When that one goes, the whole things stops working as the current runs through the small one for all speed settings, IIRC....ie it runs thorugh 1, 1&2, or 1&2&3 for the 3 speed settings, not 1, or 2 or 3.
trev. yeah i think they did. not happy.
dave thanks ill have a go at that. can you take it out without taking the dash out??? please say yes.
well nothing really to update apart from i moved the header tank today to the scuttle in front of the driver. this has freed up some space for the air filter relocation. now i need to change the gt tuning intercooler for a front mount to free up some more space. then ill be happier. im fed up with my air filter getting wet all the time, only took one pic as it started raining.
after doing this i went to see a mate Gav, who has built a maxi turbo. and i can only say that this car is perfect in every way. not oe. just his eye for detail.
crap pics but you get the gist of it.
hes going to help me do some of the bits i want to do.
nice a maxi turbo with f7p/f7r engine 16valves win win
exactly!
and in theory itl be max 500 hp. but he will run it 350 day to day. i have talked him into coming to fcs in june.
thanks mate. i have bodged it for now. so it works. as soon as the weather gets better i will sort it properly. or when i get my unit next month!! chuffed about this.
The maxi looks fantastic.
Any more pics of your header tank move?
ill get some up today mate.
^^^^ That catch tank looks spot on Smithy
And that's the Maxi you were talking about, it looks awesome buddy, I bet he can't wait to get it on the road
thanks fella. and he cant. i was over yestersay and he just has a few small things to do. i just wana hear it lol very
Nudge nudge got those pics of your header tank move please mate
sorry mate. i will get them up today. i now have 3 days off to sort some bits on the car
Top man thanks for that.
looks good there think that will be the resting place for mine eventually.
yeah its better there. for me anyway. i still need to sort a couple things but its working and not fouling anything so all good.
tomorrows jobs. changer cv boot. not looking forward to this. and look at oil leak.
WELLLLLL!!!!! cv boot job was a no go. spent ages getting a boot. then once i did and got home i find.... wheel bolts are held in with two turns! one bolt had snapped off in the hub. so the wheel was held in with 3 bolts and two turns each. hmmmm. then i find that the cv boot has a small hole in it and after feeling around the boot i find bits of broken metal in the boot . so the cv joint has collapsed.
so i try to find a cv joint. no not happening. i now have to find a hole shaft. find one at cgb. 79+vat. cant aford that at the mo but still need the car for work sat morning.
what now!!!!
i get a call from STEVO he has some bits i mite want. so off i go to his and he gives me two complete hubs. and some other bits. after an hour and a half chat i head home. then i get a call from a mate. (russ) after a long conversation this is the plan for tomorrow.
hes going to collect my car on a trailer. take it to his workshop and take the complete drive shaft from his r5 and put it in mine. give me his longer wheel bolts so i can drive my car safely for the first time!
its good to have friends!!!
That's top notch that.
That's some bad and good luck all rolled into one. He sounds like a great mate
Glad you got it sorted mate, seriously 3 remaining wheel bolts holding wheel on with two turns of thread?! take it they were miles too short and it was like it when you bought it? At least you know now and nothing really bad happened, new wheel bolts allround it is then
Sorry to hear that mate. fingers crossed it all goes well today
yeah not good. but yeah it all can be fixed.
well on another note. while i had the day free before the work starting tonight i thought id look at some other jobs.
1. loose exhaust = fixed. just came off one of the rubbers.
2. fog lights = no wires and no bulbs. so will need to sort that later.
3. oil leak = was told it was just the turbo drain pipe where it goes to the sump. WRONG! its coming from the electrical spade connector from this.
arrow points to where the spade is. but you cant see it from this photo.
solution = god knows!!!
while looking for this leak i was looking under the car at the front and found this!!!
and my finger is moving this!
its flapping around in the wind. now there are three threaded holes in the pick ( one just behind the pipe) what the hell is supposed to be hear covering this and why the hell isnt this done up? i don't have a trusty haynes so haven't a clue. is this yet another thing that could have killed me or at least the car?? any help would be great
That's the oil pressure switch. Fit a new one and that should solve the oil leak. Quite often they leak through the switch and out the connector.
There should be a tin shield covering the gap you've got to stop anything going into the flywheel. Think it's held on with 3 or 4 13mm bolts.

I could be completely wrong mate, but I think that's where the flywheel cover is supposed to sit
thanks guys. i thought there was something missing. i have driven through massive puddles and everything while that's been like that and i never new, good one!!!!
