As title had a short play with a 03 plate type r today,a model I used to own and like.It was only 2nd and then a long pull in third but after a couple of attempts to flog me and fail he ****ed it off.Still think that vtec engine is awesome.

I remember an oe one struggling to shake my old white one off with no more than 140bhp.. Perhaps his vtec hadn't kicked in yet..
I think they are fantastic cars to drive, hadle very well but lagging a bit in the engine department. I had one for 3 weeks whilst my friend went on holiday he let me borrowed it. If I was to get one a turbo would have to be placed in there somewhere to keep me entertained.
Type r's are slow standard, good engines to tune though. I used to see off type r civics and integras no problems in my old white gtt with 140bhp.
Yeah been there, Type r's for an every day sports hatch are a good car . My last 5 used to make them look like a 1.2 and my mates redtop corsa standard 150bhp can pull out, pass one and pull away no problem .
Nice to drive, reliable, easily tuneable not really a car for me though. A lad I know got a brand new type are for his 18th birthday and was gutted when my 5 used to whoop it.
Made it look like a 1.2..... Lol...... My Clio 1.2 does enjoy a good civic type r meal now and then. Yummy
One of my mates used to have one around 7-8 years ago, he to was also gutted when my 160hp gtt rinsed him
One thing I will say is you know you can push a type R on more or less any road and it will lap it up absolutly fantastic handling I once whooped a Subaru wrx at a set of lights in my mates! The Subaru driver must have totally bogged down on the launch because I was away by a car and a halfs lenght to 60mph. his face was a picture at the next set of lights as daily I would have one in a heartbeat
beating typers is the best thing in my life, the look on there faces when my ****box boosts past them.. priceless.. altho my mates turbo'd typer is a diffrent story
I used to have an Accord Type R (in my profile) my 5 would destroy it! still, a nice motor though - interior was lovely. I think the engine had 209 bhp and 160 lb torque standard.
This has gave me a great idea
I am a big fan of the type R engine keeps me in a job
I've had a blast following my mates old type r. 300hp supercharged. He only slowly pulled away and was very shocked how quick the 5 was!
I raced my mates ek9 type r with b18 engine from integra hes got manifold exhaust filter.. my 5s fueling wasnt set up and was any running 10psi and i still pulled with him was well chuffed! hes got no chance now though
I find unless a modern car has 300bhp then it has no chance. theres a leon cupra r and a corsa vxr i have seen a few times they get away until i get to 4k then im gone keep it light and simple i say
had two type r's in the family when they first came out....granted not super fast on the start but they wake up and pull very well nearer 145+
Wow.
Guys - this is simple, if you think you have a fast car get to PPC next year and you can legally blitz everything in your path, or possibly have yours handed to you. You can tell all the tall stories you like then.
This thread is really not what this club is about.
Or go over to Germany and can test the top speed out on your car
tbh the civic type r's are clio 182 speed
the only type r's to consider are the first generation type r's from japan with the lsd, they may not be anything to shout about on the straights but you get them on a track or a good set of twisties and they are simply brilliant like
I didn't start the thread to say how fast a type r was, there was no high speed racing,it was just an observation that a 5 with around 140hp makes for a nippy little car.
