Maybe, but then no money has been put down, and it's not like everyone is tied & bound by contract to stay at Gunther's. Even Shopboy himself isn't staying there!
In fairness, I did mention all this to Shoppers when I first said about the October weekend/Alex & myself going out there, but for whatever reason Gunther's place still got the nod.
Just a shame that the group is now gonna be split up for the night-time fun & games
what does what mean?
The bit that I quoted
duno what ure on about lol
Eh? I'm confuzzled....and you're weird
ure strange sometimes lol
You're strange all the time, you win
Cheers mart... you janky c*nt.... all my hard work...
TBH i am happy to do some last min booking for the RTOC people if there happy not staying at Gunters...
I will happily email/call a list of hotels tomorrow but with out being funny we will need to let Gunters kow asap as i have no doubt they maybe be a bit p*ssed off but as long as we give 4 weeks notice its pretty fair...
Chris, I think everyone already booked to stay @ Gunthers and the local guesthouse is happy where they are anyway
Right tbh theres not many hotels for us but... there is one...
Price is €225 euro for the 3 nights... for a double room, thats and extra €40 over Gunters....
Its trackside which is pretty good.... opinions please...
Are we changing now? Lol happy to go with whatever anyone else wants. I'm not driving so I don't really get a say
Dont mind, happy with anything. Hotel with view
TBH i wasnt to keen on changin hotels, but seeing as now i have a list of 10 hotels next to ring (within 2 miles max) and there all pretty good prices, speak fluent english... accept credit cards etc....
Perhaps its time to say good bye to gunters and have a hotel Track based so to speak....
I'm happy to stay at Gunthers hotel, reasonable price, good food and beer, and the drive over to the Ring isn't that bad... there's also 100RON Shell just round the corner too.
Looks like i'll be there on my own
Yeah plus side, Gunters food is rather nice, and the last hotel we stayed at was not the best really. But then again you never know until you try.
Not stayed at Gunthers myself but everyone I've spoken to seemed to love it. More than happy to stay there
It may be something to think about if we can ALL get in the same hotel but you don't need to create work for yourself Chris. Chillax and just await the 18th October, woohoo

Oh and to those who haven't yet booked travel, you may want to soon as the prices are beginning to rise.
Shoppers, is that the Hotel Nordschleife at the Breidscheid corner? (where the 2nd entrance barriers to the track are). If so, I reckon we should all stay there the next time, as it's supposed to be a v nice hotel with bloody good food/portions.
Hey, I like my steaks medium, and my chips lots
I am all booked up for Eurotunnel... we have now had 2 more hotels offer rooms at very good prices... some almost as good as gunters...
Oh well, maybe next year we will have plenty of hotels to choose from. :-)
ill go with the rest of ya, longs ive gota bed im happy
booked my crossing on the eurotunnnel
dp 6.20 on the 18th
rt 14.20 on the 21st
hotel wise im easy, this is all new to me
Wooohoo, we're leaving 4 weeks on Saturday!!
Not that it makes a great deal of difference, but why are peeps booking the 2:20pm ET for the return leg? Is the 2:50pm train now fully booked?
I booked the 2:50 train yesterday.... but as said as long as your within 2 hours each side of your departure time ET will do the best to get you on a earlier train... considering even atm trains are only running 70% during off peak hours we should be fine.
What happens when you try too hard
Dave who used to own a red gt turbo from chelmsford went over to the ring last weekend. His car came back in one piece, one of the cars didn't
Supposed to have been £1850 worth of damage to the track and im guessing that includes recovery of vehicle from track and closure of it.
Plus would need to get his car back to England.
Makes you think about is it worth going fast round that track.
Ouch, not a cheap repair there...
I hope the lad was ok, Seriously guys take it easy on track... so far RTOC has had luck on there side... but will it always be there?
what caused that crash? crap driving/under estimating the track or.....?
From what Dave was saying, the bloke managed a 8.5min lap on the track, the car is running about 280bhp so im guessing he was seriously pushing it and went beyond his skill of driving.
guys advice here please, i'd love to do something like this once the 5 is up and 100%
what happens with regards to brake downs etc and terminal faults, do you just take the risk that everything will be fine, i know you can get international brake down etc, but say you trash the engine, its not like you can just pop back to the garage once the works been done, what plan do people have in place for this?
Basically we have had around 20 different 5 goes... no major problems... all fixed out there... but if worse comes to it BreakDown is needed... but even then they often dont pick up from the ring or take u back to the UK.... they will often only tow to the cost of the car.... but argue your car is Agreed value £3k etc etc...
ah right so its always handy really having a supposrt vehicle as such that can tow maybe a trailor if there's tonnes of people going, bit ott but i'd be gutted trying to lug all my gear home only to leave the car behind, for naff all insurance pay out
New poster! (less than 10 posts)
IF you have a breakdown on the Ring, I have ADAC cover which will save you the 185 EUR it costs to have it towed off the circuit..secure indoor/ outdoor storage is available close to the Ring if you have problems..
My advice would be to read the following link, then read it again
http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/beginners.html
But anyone that is timing their laps round the Ring is asking for trouble....reckon that guy with the Focus will still want the Ring sticker on the car after that
Right then people... a few members said that they were interested in going to the ring at ND.... Well you now have 48 hours from now to confirm as i must confirm 100% numbers with our hotel & B&B regarding rooms etc.
Anybody know if Jesus and J are still going... not heard from them in a while regarding the ring?
Will text J now for ya Chris If Tricky comes it's going to be an extremely last minute decision so he'll be sorting himself out
I've also been in contact with EuroTunnel to confirm about the crossing times, any delays, etc.
As soon as they reply back, I'll post it on here.
Just to check, are the majority booked onto the 6:20am train on the Saturday morning?
Meeting up time has changed, for those that do want to meet before-hand - It's now 5:15am onwards at the Tesco near Shopboy's (M20, junction 10), leaving there at 5:30am sharp.
Yep, 6:20 saturday morning, another great early start. And going to be nice and cold as well.
Seems they are having troubles with ET still, saw it on the news again last night, any clue what that was all about?
Dale, according to the below link they had to remove part of the damaged train
http://www.eurotunnel.com/ukcP3Main/...ukpFocusOn.htm
It's only the last third of one of the tunnels that's still closed. ET reckon they're nigh-on upto full speed again though, but I just wanted some clarification from them just incase there are any delays, or that we might have to be there earlier to guarantee a spot on that 6:20am train, etc.
If you think it's gonna be cold that time of morning, it should set you up nicely for Germany then, as the long range forecast (pinch of salt time) reckons it's gonna be a 'chilly' but dry weekend.
ET are running, but more like 1 train an hour... seeing as our 6:20 train is the 2nd train out that morning we "should" be ok.
'Should' - Hence my email to them, so we all know the bobby...
