i dont think any have them that are a direct fit.
pm the adamL as his company do/did them for the 5
audi a6 turbo would bolt on i belive, slight fiddle required
i now its work to fit them but if i find one second hand bonus
just wanna now what cars to be looking out for so to say
This is one partially adapted
With some modification to air filter pipe run would be perfect for FMIC fitment run
what else needs to be done there james, and whats already been done?
On the one in the pic it just needs an exhaust elbow made up, Oil feed adaptor, possibly the compressor outlet cut and welded for OE positioning, a boost pressure actuator ( as it still has the vaum actuator attached) other than that that one is pretty much there (vanes have been adjusted for boost pressure actuator).
A standard VNT vacum actuator is Vacuum controlled so it will pull the vanes to close the vanes and released to open them. That means the vanes would be closed at idle and open up as you give it more throttle.
For a boost pressure actuator to work it would be the opposite so the vanes would be open on idle and once the preset boost reached the actuator would push the vanes closed (thus creating boost/ pressure restriction).

To run a boost pressure actuator you need to open up the VNT and adjust the vanes so that they are open when the actuator just resting on it and when boost pressure increases it will cause the vanes to close (pushing the actuator rod out)

what layout is the studs on the back for the turbo elbow james any pics?
cheers james, Is this a standard t3 back?
cool pic and vid james So the vanes allow the air to flow more efficiently onto the wheel hence the quick spool up and sudden boost? Are there any adapters out there to bolt straight on and weld to a downpipe. Also do vnt have wastegates, or is it by using the vanes that you can allow enough gases to flow past the wheel without rotating it? If im making sense?
never even thought about the waste gate lol but good q.
so does it have a wastegate too?
No the actuator controls the flow over vanes which then controls / limits the opening of the vanes thus creating a flow / boost restriction
With ref to adaptors for the 3 stud fitment to be honest they are standard fitments that any decent exhaust place would / should have and I think Powerflow would be the best bet when i spoke to them they quoted me about £80.00 for a 2.5" elbow to mate up with my K-tec 2.5 " downpipe or speak with Big Jim Racing he loves the VNT and is a fecking awesome welder to from what i have seen of Phil's engine in the flesh

Now phil has a fecking hue VNT GT2560v something I have never seen one 2nd hand yet and I check often .

dont see how i can
Thanks for the info, I have the big jim racing 2.5inch downpipe tucked away somewhere, so could chop the standard turbo end off. Does the turbo sit in the same place in relation to the downpipe bracket to do this? With ref to adaptors for the 3 stud fitment to be honest they are standard fitments that any decent exhaust place would / should have and I think Powerflow would be the best bet when i spoke to them they quoted me about £80.00 for a 2.5" elbow mate with my K-tec downpipe or speak with Big Jim Racing he loves the VNT and is fecking awesome welder to from what i have seen of Phil's engine in the flesh

as regards to phils engine and 5 , i remember looking through all his pics one night. so so feckin awsome
does the turbo have to be modified as the petrol exhaust gas burn hotter than the diesel gas?
I didn't quite get that far but I have some pics of my old VNT setup which may give you an idea of what is needed (turbo developments / Adam L jobby)
3 stud to 2 stud 90 degree 3" elbow that was, but you could always get them to weld it to your downpipe so it is then a 1 piece pipe
did ms motorspoort get some larger vnt's built from turbo development/ adam l that would handle more power and wouldn't choke up??
I always thought letting the vanes control the boost was fine, yeah the odd bit of spiking here and there was ok, then I fitted an external wastegate, balls to not using one, boost conrol with one is so much easyer than without, the VNT is sposed to bit set at 14psi min, where as my WG will stop it dead at 7psi and will hold it there right up to 7000rpm
I wouldn't have a VNT without
VNT's are good, but you have to know what you are doing otherwise they are the biggest nightmare in the world.
just won a vnt so i will need a complete break down on how to turn the housing ect and other jobs needed to fit if possible james
You'll want to check the part number, it'll have to be 454205. There's a little more work than just rotating the housings.
not sure just now its a gt2052v
There's quite a few GT2052V's for different cars. That part number is the only one that uses a T2 style flange at the correct angle.
well its being sent so i take it, its more work if not that one ?
As said via a pm if you can make up an adaptor plate for the 4 stud gtt manifold to take the 3 stud flange matey you could prob use the 3 stud VNT, but as Adam L has said 454205 GT2052v is what you want like the link below which as said above is the same VNT as used on the Audi 2.5 v6 TDI.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Garrett-GT2052...d=p3286.c0.m14
Obviously these off the shelf VNT's are a different spec to the turbo developments custom jobbies as the Compressor housings and compressor wheel is different on them (bigger compressor housing on turbo developments VNT - looks like an escort T3 & an escort T3 compressor wheel).
ya making a flange is np in fact already being sorted just waiting on turbo to be delivered and it will be do 2 days later then for the problems to start
i know of a full vnt, manifold, down pipe, and oil feed all coming of a gtt. ashys old raider if you know of the car. but it aint going to be cheap. all works good. can be seen running as its still on the car ....
