The BMW VNT is a 330d or the X5 with the 3.0 diesel engine, also found on other vechicles aswell, alfa's, Jeep, Merc's to name a few but there are mods required and not exactly cheap to mod unless you have the tools to do it yourself.
You will need to make a manifold adaptor up (as it is not a direct fit for the R5 manifold), rotating housing so oil drain is @ bottom, modified oil drain pipe, adjust the vanes so acutator sits correctly, adaptor for oil feed, custom turbo elbow for VNT.
I have just done a VNT conversion myself (just need a custom elbow now)
I think the cheapest and easiest turbo to mod is the old T25 tomcat, as the only things you will need to purchase extra are oil feed adaptor and dump valve blanking plate and there are so many tomcat turbos for sale.
