Or cash in ze post...recorded...
I'd have to put it before 'tcommittee and then it'd take till NAT day to get approval so NON !!!
Tell you what ...buy a few shop goodies on the day and I'll see what I can do Just a feckin T-shirt would give me a bit more room at home .
Well after developing a strange boost leak / recirc issue
I booked the day off work and after 11hrs of pain I found the issue to be the turbo not the boost system, solinoids, wiring, ECU, recirc, exhaust, wastegate, actuator, to name a few
Oh the joys of the vx when it goes wrong
So at the moment no car and in lots and lots of bits, in Bracknell (work) all day tomorrow but managed to talk Andy (director) at AET to let me turn up 1st thing thu morning and strip (bit more machine work :P) rebuild (FOC as well) then back home and approx 5hrs to put it all back together and hope the problem has gone away.
Then pack and go pod fri morning - look out
Hope I can get it all done intime or I will just get pished and enjoy the day.........
Oh and need to get my R888's fitted, geo and fix soft top or will be with hard top and cannot fit a helmet on with that and with roof off they want me to use arm straps
Still looking forward to it
DG
Skip the geo ...you is going in a straight line innit
Wasn't that a new turbo you fitted?
Your luck's improving then Duncan!
If you want a hand on Friday morning, give me a shout mate
What's wrong with it, out of curiosity, and what turbo is it?
Thanks for the offer Mart, at this rate it may be a put together friday morning but better than coming in the disel of doom I guess
Adam it is a hybrid VXR turbo - std VXR manifold with a bit of machining to the ports / open the wastegate penny. Compressor side gets machined and K06 wheel with different blade design / 360 thrust bearing (std vxr bearing is made from choc and hates to run 23psi :P) oh and the cold side intake and oulet get machined out and smoothed etc
Should have found the extra and stuck a GT28rs on there!
Not sure how but the recirc is built into the turbo on the vxr turbo and the flat area the diaphram sites on has worn (not sure how) so it is not flat causing the leak even when the recir is closed
Also got an oil leak from the core so all in all bit of a FAIL Andy has been great about it and said the rebuild will be free and let me work with the guys doing it to see it for myself
Steve yeah only a few K on it, not sure of reason for fail yet.
DG
The VXR runs a 360 thrust bearing as standard, like every turbo nowadays, i've never seen an ''uprated'' one available. Have you tried just blanking off the recirc valve, like quite a few others that we've built have done?
Std bearing is made of choc choc
There was a write up details below - enjoy the read there are 2 versions of uprated VXR K04 units - AET and Regal

I still don't see any ''uprated'' parts
I know where that bearing comes from, it's just a standard one. But granted, the ones used on the K04 from factory are pretty pathetic.
I am getting excited, i have decided not to take the cup car, but defo coming for the jolly.
I am just checking my tent as we speak, sleeping bag is sorted, air bed had no leaks
-------
Checked my tent, i am in need of some more pegs... is santa pod peg friendly or is the ground to hard?
Nah its peg friendly, had no issues last year

We're going old school this year and getting a disposable BBQ so we can poison ourselves with uncooked food
Well at AET turbo's in their office using LAN - no wireless lol
Looked like overspooling has caused the intake wheel fins to bent (overheated)causing the boost leak sound and pressure drop. Bit of wear on the bearing but hard to know which went 1st?
Currently getting the intake cast machined and flowed before the turbo gets rebuilt
No heat issues on the manifold side
We think the 58mm intake pipe to charge cooler and CC intake size is a restriction and may be contributing to the build up of heat at the new power it is running, noooooo time today to start welding stuff and making custom pipes lol. Also think the paper air filter is an issue as I found some paper mush in the core entrance which I can only work out came from there and and contributed to the restriction.
Time to go 2.5" from turbo to throttle body, may gain 100rpm lag but should gain more top end.
Oh it never ends..........................but hope to be there tomorrow
DG
Looking forward to having the sh1ts again...
Well did not get to open the garage door until 5:30pm after getting back from AET late and gave up at 9:30pm most of it is back together but just too much to do, too knackered and lost the will to live let alone finish the car tonight.
Will start agin in the morning and prob be there about 1pm
Gutted but kind of don't care! Time for a cold beer, sick of working on cars
See you all tomorrow one way or another
DG
All back together now, managed to cause it not to go in reverse, managed to spin the ramp under the wheel but lucky no damage, and from what it looks the major oil leak is not there anymore, touch wood. Now just need to reload windows on a laptop with a serial connector, and pack for tomorrow. Should be there around 10ish I guess.
Wow what a great day thanks to all the CM members for sorting the day out!
BIG BIG THANKS to Turbo Ted, Big Dan C, Carcrash and Dirty Dave for the help in getting my car ready for the pod!
My best time was 14.2@ 89mph but the boost hose popped off before the line! Did get close to to 100mph later on but ran lean over the line so gave up! before it went wrong!
Some of my pictures are here!

Big thanks to scoff for helping me set the fueling on my 5, much appraciated
Managed a pb of 125.5mph terminal but still didnt improve ET, 11.43 best, great day and great weather, good to meet everyone looking forward to the next meeting cheers
really loved this event, nice to meet a few folks, my car was playin up all the journey there and back .. I was going to camp but last min didnt as a friend wanted to get my engine in the 205 the next morning so ive been doing that all day and now its running ... yay !!! For folks that dont know i was the dude with the tungy r5 and black boot, and most the day had white or green large spec sunglasse's on.
Awesome day! Good to chat to the regulars & new faces. Some comedy moments on the night
Done a 13.4@97 in the van, chuffed with that My next goal is a twelve if its possible! Big thanks to Kris m for letting me give the ph1 a run up the strip, Bloody quick for standard boost!
Got loads of pics will upload then tomorrow.
haha nah man, she enjoys the car stuff, and i dont mean enjoys is as in, can put up with it, she actually really does. Although a face full of petrol after the 205 decided to blow off a fuel hose today didnt go down quite so well . Besides its not the case, as of a car show with strip clubs, and random skanks walking around with there boobs n arse's resembling cliff faces hanging out.
Its cool j8tro, i had problems with the car but i know the way to pod, pretty well now with or without satnav, so was a steady drive down for me :P

pics vids etc
Me and the missus really enjoyed the day, she met more people than me I think
I loved raping the 172 all day long, which in the end managed a respectable 14.9 @ 92 mph ( the only 172 there I think, wearing the white Willys of course )
It was really good to see a load of old faces and meet a few new ones too
I loved the Backyard Civic, consistently quick all day! Stu Clark trapping at 125mph, that car was not hanging about
So many well prepped cars running very good times!
Can't wait for the ND now, the 172 and my GTT will be out on the track
Yeah quality day and camping. Good to meet some new members + the usual faces
The std ph1 managed a 15 second dead which i was pretty happy with. Cheers to Brigsy for afew runs in the van........Awesome
Awesome day and even better camping and those that stuck around on saturday for the rwyb saw some good action (that 7.4 @193mph bike was just insane) plus they had chance to get even more sunburnt as they sobbered up
Good(ish) turnout of members, more next year please but all in all i'd say it was more of a sucess than last year.
Only down point for me was the clutch cable snapping on the phase1 5miles away from Pod on the way home, AA to the rescue (cheers jaf).
I managed 51 runs all day, 28 in the phase1, and 23 in the 5lag. (std phase1 did 15.42 on uniroyals. 5lag.....needs some more work )
But £1 a run aint bad value really!!
What a weekend, loads of super quick fives and some nice looking ones too.Had to take my hat off to the backyard lads with their mighty impressive civic always in the 11's and even ran it the next day with what I saw was a 11.1 best . Massive thanks to all those who sorted the event, also a massive thanks to mike and tony for the beer, laughs, food and putting up with my drunken antics Kris M and Jesus, loved the phase one congac got me truly battered, although stu thc and myself have the bragging rights of the last two standing at the end of the night Only thing that pissed me off the whole weekend was my lm-1, I knew I had the fuel for 25psi+ but could not trust it so ran with 20-21psi. Still not to shabby though this being my first event and best I ran an13.47 on road tyres with 104.5
That cognac were harsh stuff! With renault on the label i knew it would be pants
Well managed to recover from the whole of yesterday, shame I couldn't stay for the camping as thats always an eventful night with the RTOC lot, guess ill have to wait for national day then to enjoy the delights of rtoc camping again.
This was a cracking event again. Lots of nice cars and the weather was on our side again
As always its nice to see so many fives in the same place! Loving the slammed phase ones they were quality! I took alot of videos so will post a link when i get them on youtube.
Big well done to the backyard lads with the civic some cracking times for the first run out! Unfortunately for me I broke the Mini. I have managed to break every tooth off the pinion gear and the crown wheel is a little worse for wear So i had to have a few runs in my trusty Renault
Pics from the weekend
