    Touring the uk

just a bit of somthing to consider here, but recently the 205 gti boards have undertook a eurotrip which saw them across many countries touring and meeting up with fellow 205 drivers and the photos and videos and stories its brougth is awesome. The trip took them 10 days to complete. Just wondering if a similar thing has been done before but simply touring the uk , with obvious destinations on trip that may be fun. Its only a idea really but its just pretty damn amazing reading the stories of sitting in multistorey carparks repairing driveshafts etc which travelling along awesome roads, witnessing an avalnche and so on.

Opinions on whether somthing like this would work/be worthwhile and above all be fun.

    Re: Touring the uk

The Nurburgring trips are the same experience your 205 forum members went through, i can remember myself Logg's dodgy actuator spring mod and drying the oil out from Ewok's spark plug holes as it was making the spark plugs short

As for a drive round the UK, not a bad idea i suppose but half the fun is going abroad.

Get yourself booked onto the Nurburgring trip in September for the Renault World Series!

You don't have to come in a 5!

It's not a prerequisite of the club that you have to come on one of the trips in a Renault 5 GT Turbo? Have a look at all of the cars that went on the Nurburgring trip last year HERE

You will see we have a

    New Clio Learner Car
    Vauxhall Astra Sportback
    Renault 19 Cabriolet
    Vauxhall Omega (The Interceptor) RIP
    6 Renault 5 GT Turbo's
    Renault Clio 172 Cup
    BMW M3 CSL
    Volvo T5 Estate
    Honda Civic
    Nissan 200sx
    Two Clio V6's
    Audi A3 Tdi
Renault Clio VAG Turbo (ME )

So you could come in a 205 or whatever you fancy! It's all about the trip!

    Re: Touring the uk

ive done a few to france now.

i went to Le Chatre for 20 years of the renault 5 in 2005 - headgasket change in a carpark in france....

i went to Arras via the coast road in my turbo2 a few years ago and went to a french autojumble....

i also did the south of france tour with Mart to Antibes/Nice - Monte Carlo - awesome stuff.

BUT IT WAS EXPENSIVE ON THE FUEL!!!!!

Ah true, well either the 205 or r5, wouldnt really want to go in anything boring. Failing that i could get my friend to come in his bmw and we could share the driving i guess,.

    Re: Touring the uk

Euro trip is well worth doing but it is heavy on the wallet as Sparkie says .GTA went to WSR in Monza 05 . Awesome trip but 2000miles in fuel and tolls add up

    Re: Touring the uk

Yeah Toll roads in France sure add up (Close to £80 to drive back from St Tropez last year) together with the cost of fuel it's pretty expensive but as Loreal say.... it's worth it!!

Well ok, that time around yeah, but it's usually reprazentin'

I reckon a drive of some sort around Europe is defo something we should think about organising for next year, if enough interest is there. I remember there being talk of several of us driving down to Barcelona a few years back for a Renault show/meet/whatever it was, but that plan eventually crashed & burnt

Euro road-trips FTW! I can't wait for my jaunt down to Lake Garda, via Stelvio, in September

I tell ya what i am not doing yet another euro drive...

far to many hours behind the wheel for my liking... Stevio was amazing but seriously how many hours was it on f*cking motorways... going through the hairpin bends with Tricky in tow was funny...

Did his van ever get back to the UK?

Yep, it's a LOT of driving to drive down to the Stelvio Pass

I think the Transporter did make it back in the end but on the back of a truck & last i heard it was proper fooked!

It's not that far Didn't help that we had to go the more direct (boring) route, and squeezing everything into a week, rather than taking a chillax drive down, and panning the drive out over several days.

I bet you wouldn't be saying the same if you had drove your Renault's rather than the diesel dogs...

Dover to stelvio on one tank ;-) oh and the few laps of the ring...

Still dont know how the 750mile trip back from St Tropez to dover i managed to kill 3 tanks of diesel tho!!! Flat out at 125+ would explain that tho

I certainly wouldnt do the trip in the cup car when its road legal... the devil sidey would kill me..
