I heard that they stopped making the Dunlop's a couple of years back.
Steve, those Continentals are old skool tyres as well. I used them on my 5 about eight years ago, and they disappeared from the shelves a long while back. The Perilli's that came in our size were the P600's, not 6000's. They were dog 5hite imo.
MXV's were the daddy of the 195/55/13 brigade. The thing is though, that they haven't been made for a fair few years, so even if you can find some, they're no where near as good as they should be.
We should lobby Michelin to dig those MXV moulds out of the stores & knock a few up?!
I'm sure they'd get straight onto it
Been there, tried that mate.
The only chance you'll get of sourcing them tyres is if the club was to purchase a thousand of them (or something around that figure), or if a motor manufacturer was to release a new car running 13" rims/195-55 tyres.
Given that most new small cars run 15" wheels as a minimum these days, I can't see either scenario happening unfortunately.
And as per Billy's post, the Conti's & Pirelli's are cr8p.
the new uniroyals i got recently were pretty good, but they were manufactured fairly recently.
Anybody got any contacts as to where i can find standard size tyres... no matter what make...
Otherwise I am looking at this
Toyo R610
4 x 185/55 R13 H = £240.68
Falken Ziex ZE-912
4 x 185/60 R13 H = £173.24
Nexen CP641
4x 185/60 R13 H = £118.88
found these on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Semperit-Sport...#ht_500wt_1182
I'm a bit wary of there being no feedback for the seller though , if I get a chance, I'll try and make some phone calls tomorrow at work
What's wrong with 195/55 Uniroyals?
A tyre place near me said they can still get the uniroyals\pirellis in 195/55, not cheap mind.

Penfold, etc...
I've just done a search on Google.fr and come up with this as the first option:
http://www.goodwheel.fr/products/Pne...R13-80-T-.html
or:
http://www.acdpneus.fr/produits/tour...-art10906.html
I'll do some more searching. We live very close to the Continent, so it might be practical for us to pop over. I wonder if Norauto, the French equivalent of Halfords sells the right tyres? If so, a quick hop over the channel will do!
We're in the same boat, wanting to keep the original wheels and tyre size.

Nope - Norauto doesn't sell them. They only go down to 14".

Cheaper Uniroyals:

Looks like these sites will ship to the UK, but I don't know what the cost is likely to be.

Should have completed my digging before posting again, but...
Goodwheel will charge 47 Euros to post to the UK! Sounds like we will be going with them then...
That's about £250 for a set of the Semperit. Hopefully they'll be ok, but we seem to be so limited in choice now.
Andrew
Andrew,
Semperit tyres can be brought for £29.99 each atm from the uk, I am currently looking into getting discount on many tyres... give me a week and i will get back to you guys.
Chris
Yes, after posting, my wife found the Semperit tyres from MyTyres for £38 - d'oh! I didn't search for all speed ratings so didn't find them. Finding the Uniroyals in France might be a help to someone tho'...
OK - well, please keep us all informed. We won't be needing the tyres for a little while:
