    Re: ignition barrel

remove the plastic cover from under the steering wheel then undo the 4 13mm nuts and lower the steering colum. then remove the philips screw from the barrel. then insert the key and turn it about a quater turn whilst pushing the pins in at the side of the barrel. when the pins go in on the side of the barrel you can pull the barrel out of the colum and pull the wiring plug apart.

    Re: ignition barrel

dont think the wires just come off the barrell well they do sort of.
u can pull the black cap type bit down that the wires are connected 2 barrell side.
but theres a bit of metal holding them onto the barrell.
i also have to change my barrell.
so i was hopeing to do the same as you.
but i got a replace ment barrell and it had all the wires on so am just gona change the lot.
think ull have to do the same.
unless some 1 with more experience on this matter can help if so id love to hear how to do it also ?

    Re: ignition barrel

the wiring stays on the lock and is about 3 inches long and there are 2 black plugs which connect to the main loom, just pull them apart. follow the instructions i have written above and you will see what we mean.

    Re: ignition barrel

i know how the barrell came off all i wanted to no was can you get the wires off the barrell because the immobilser wires are wired into the wires.
and didnt fancy swopping them all over as my barrells fecked.
but ive worked something out thanx to all

    Re: ignition barrel

i think as neither of you actually said in the first place the reason why you wanted to remove the wires from the barrel i.e it's been adapted for alarm/immobiliser, you would have got a quicker result. i myself have changed one and kno it to be a simple plug swap and couldn't understand what the problem was but it makes sense now. glad you're both sorted now
