    White GT Turbo

    Olaaaa RTOC

After copious threads, asking numerous questions, i thought id stick up a project post

I love how photo bucket is awful for picture quality, and my flickr wouldn't give me the IMG code pfft.

I bought a PH1 GT turbo around a month ago now.

On my arrival home, the clutch cable snapped

So i fitted a heavy duty one from CGB.
I also fitted new silicone blue breather hoses with the restrictors, which made it run sooooo much better.

I also rebuilt my carb with the kit via the shop here

I also then had a lot of problems, with smoke when warm. I did a compression test, which had reasonable figures. Safe to say there was water mixing with oil somewhere.

So i bought a new engine.
    The spec of the engine.

    285 piper cam
    piper valve springs
bottom end rebuild by CGB 1,000 miles ago
    Blue seal HG.
    Tubular manifold ( KTEC apparently)

Ive also brought some new wheels direct from Germany.

I am also undecided on what turbo to run with the above setup. Currently T2.

I am also on the look out for a nice exhaust system ( as i currently have standard)
and will probably buy a new rad and oil cooler, which isn't combined.
I have a alloy one, which is combined but are they any good?

    cheers & Any advice welcomed.

Love it.. And the Ronals are a personal fave.. Good to see a local aswell go for a t25 for everyday use personally or t28 to get the max out of that engine spec.. Exhaust is personal taste really Sidey for noise just make sure you get a large down pipe from turbo.. Also do you have an afr gauge? That's the first thing if buy keep an eye on those readings and keep that engine safe..

Nice project good to see a new car on the project thread. Just keep the alloy rad and run a separate oil cooler. Keep the updates coming.

Remember that one from the retro show this year. What's the story behind it? Is she a campus conversion or a repainted GT? Looks real nice.

    Thanks for the comments !

I haven't got a AFR gauge yet, need to get a down pipe with AFR bung....
Any recommendations? is the standard elbow good enough?

Good idea, ill just get a mocal one with thermostat!

I bought it fully running and working, but its just one of them things i suppose.

Its a genuine GT turbo, originally tungsten grey, but had a full respray in Ford Polar White.

I love the look, especially with the ronals, very subtle imo.

Where can i get a T25 turbo from? Would it be beneficial me getting a T2/T25 Hybrid from CGB??

This is a cool looking thing I'm glad you are pressing on getting all the problems sorted.

So this is a Ph2 car that has been made to look Ph1-ish

Are you referring to the resprayed Tungy comment? (Amongst other small bits)

Yeah. I was assuming this car wasn't a Euro Ph1 Tungy and that it wasn't something else before it was Tungy. So it if was a UK car (and it is RHD), AFAIK Tungy only ever came in Ph2. Plus the body kit is all Ph2.

    Thanks for the comments

My only knowledge was that d reg was ph1?

It's a uk car and rhd, guess I'll have to change my thread name haha

Does anyone know what colour they spray the grey body kits at all?

Just a few contradictory bits really. No rear spoiler = ph1, non colour coded wing mirrors = ph1 D reg are generally ph1. What's the interior trim?

    Re: White PH1 GT

That grille is from a Campus.

If it was a D reg then it's Ph1, starting to cross-over, which means it wasn't Tungy grey, certainly not from the factory.

We'd need to see more pics to be more certain.

Who, Renault? The body kits weren't sprayed, the colour was put in as part of the manufacturing process I think.

Some people have found dark grey spray paint that matches the original colour well (to bring back faded or resprayed kits), but I've no idea what make/code. Yours looks to be light in comparison to the original colour but it still looks well

    Re: White PH1 GT

    Well,

    Where do i start?

I got the engine in a few months back and got it running fine after few problems with the ignition timing!

Still need to fit exhaust/turbo/downpipe brackets, and possibly buy some!

However, it runs and very well too!
My standard oil cooler lines, looked awful so i updated the cooling system by using a Mocal oil cooler, & braided hoses alongside a thermostat, to make sure it doesn't overcool

I fitted a new nylon bush in the gearbox and realised my old fork arm didn't have the inner bit which i bought a new one and it still don't have it! apparently cant buy the inner anymore either!

Then after the engine went in, i bought a volvo soft clutch fork setup which i haven't fitted!

Continuing to the interior, i have bought some new seats! which i made some frames for, but they sat way to high, so need to modify them again!

I also noticed my steering rack, looked like the original, and it also had a split gaiter, so i attempted to find a refurbed one for the circle splined fitment, i couldn't, so i fitted a new gaiter! My steering feels fine anyway!

I also bought a new top hat, but can you spot the difference??

I also fitted a new master cylinder, but it seemed to leak fluid from the top hose??

It seems to have gone after a few uses and since its got colder? weird i know

I also bought some new spare " cool" wheels

They have ad048 tyres, and i love turbines so winner !

Ive just purchased some new jacking points, with help from rabbitstew! so big thanks to him!
I don't need the jacking points and mine are solid, but i feel they are good items to keep for the future! Especially with future price hikes!

I haven't got many photos, sorry, my future updates will be better, honest!

    Heres some general shots!

Ive also bought a half rear roll cage, which i may fit!
I bought a CGB downpipe so i can run a aem wideband too!

I love stockpiling parts and not fitting them

    PS

Thank you for everyone on here for the advice/help in the past!

    OHHHH

    Heres the engine fitted!

With the old downpipe, which is blowing considerably, so can't wait to fit my CGB item, i also have bought new thicker metal gaskets to avoid any unflat surfaces from turbo to downpipes ( incase)

Great update Aterro you've done loads of work I really love the look of this car, it's different.

You've got a lot going on there simultaneously.

Have you got plans for an OE style grille (either ph1 or ph2), at some stage?

Feel like i haven't done enough

Its a marathon, not a race, and i don't really have a specific time limit, just to keep building and having fun really!

I would love OE grill & Rear arches ( PH1) but finding them is a big issue, i don't mind paying the premium, but I've not even found any for sale??

I don't mind the ph2 bumper, if a ph1 bumper came available, i would snap it up, but again parts supply is low and i would prefer the grill and rear arches to be changed over the front bumper!

    Ph2 bumper looks fine.

Also, if you can't find a Ph1 grille, a Ph2 grille would be a big improvement over the current one if sprayed the right colour

Here is my old motor. Ph1 with Ph2 grille colour coded:

But it could be that yours would suit grey to go with the kit.

    Re: White PH1 GT

Three different configurations in the post above. One with Ph2 bumper, two without, three different sets of wheels, colour coded mirrors on two, not on the other. Fogs, indicators and side repeaters all swapped over.

My favourite setup is the middle pic.

    Back end:

Thanks for the pictures Trev, looks amazing in the second & third picture!

I also forgot to state i bought some morettes, and have sprayed them the same colour as the bodykit! ( not fitted)

So unsure what colour would be best for future grill options, possible grey too, then it would make a consistent line from light through grill to light again.. hmmm

Definitely need to find a ph1 grill/ or ph2 I'm still unsure. ill see what i find
