Fantastic work Love the refurbed handbrake!
That's dedication to the oe theme getting all the nuts and bolts zinc plated top work.
Brilliant James
Who did the plating mate?
Little bit of progress - overhauled quite a few parts and assembled some brackets - pics as always.
Also assembled front suspension but cant get inner arb bushes on. No way will they go on.
Ordered 21mm ARB with 33mm height - which are smallest bushes.
Temp assembled carburettor to inlet manifold to see how zinc plated parts look.
Also had to rebuild horn compressor as bushes had died. Fitted bushes of a spare compressor and all good again.
This is all looking nice and shiney
Something doesn't quite look right with the shape of the inner ARB bushes, they look squashed, isn't there a 23mm ARB on some models?
Having just browsed from page 1, gotta say looking sweet, only hope one day I can pay as much attention to detail on mine
Bit more progress
Managed to get rear beam off and clean all underneath up so I could underseal everything.
Then stripped down the rear beam got torsion bars out and cleaned up the rear brake calipers and old fuel pipes.
Finnished overhaul of tank heat shield and them commenced to give the gearbox a clean down. However when I took the end cover off to paint I found these small metal rods in the thick oil? Anyone know what they are?
Pics as always
Hi progress is amazing and great quality alot of effort has gone in and it shows. The little bars look like the inside of roller bearings thats givin up what were gear changes like and was there any noise from the box
Little bit more progress
Checked driveshaft and that was the culprit for the needle bearings in the gearbox
Bought a piper 270 cam uprated valve springs and vernier
Got a replacement gear linkage as mine was 10mm out of shape.
Been working on the front calipers that Jon kindly had blasted for me.
Also got a replacement upgraded Garrett Turbo and purchased a fuel filter and carb kit.
Rear Beam has gone to powder coaters.
right time to update!
All Callipers overhauled and ready to go on.
Rear beam powder coated but in process destroyed rear bushes - replacements fitted and beam now on car.
Brake pipes fitted as are fuel pipes and fuel tanks.
New Retro number plates and dealer sticker purchased.
Also got a replacement rip free rear seat and an enlarged intercooler
Should bring things upto date. Rear beam needs setting to correct height.
Lots of detail in this. I especially like all the brackets and bolts being coated. Great build!
very jealous of your dedication and refurb skills!
Stunning!!! love the period number plates and sealer sticker, nice touch .
Cheers for the kind comments. Hoping to get some big progress done this year.
Starting with getting the car a rolling shell again.

nice work, coming along nicely.
Not much progress on five its not high on the priority list at the moment.
Plus cant really do much until five is painted.
Anyway a little progress
Bought a genuine tow eye cover off James that cleaned up really nice.
Also bought new front brake discs and pads plus found old brake reservoir cap inner rubber had disintegrated so a new one of those was purchased and a new reservoir off ebay.
Sump has been powder coated and looks quality - still to be picked up from Jon
Also cleaned up inside of the block and gave it another coat of high temp black paint.
You git!! Now I have to buy a new reservoir more parts!!
Great project, coming on really well .
Perfect job
