Loving your work mate. I too fitted different front and rear bumpers (Skeete std width) and it seemed like a good idea at the time, but now I've gone off them. The rear bumper especially.
That said, while I do love the OE kit, I do think it can be improved upon (see Pascal's car) and I still want to go down the F2000 MAXI Kit for mine at some point.
As with most people, funds and family inevitably tend to slow the pace of progression.
Cheers Woznaldo when I 1st bought my 5 it came with the skeete bumper. And your right about funds etc slowing the pace down, but my main bug bear is too much tea and lots of thinking and looking rather than doing
The rdar is really coming on an looking great neil..very impressed mate......uve been a busy boy...have u got time to fit me in before pod lmao
Just ordered some metal number plates, I hope they look ok on the car
Very true buddy...im trying to keep up with the young !! Ive been prepping a bonnet front bumper...front wings ...grill...an my morettes so u may wish u hadnt offered .....ha ha ha ...uve put a great deal of time and care into your car an its paying off...sha monnnnnnn he he
Ive colour sanded all the freshly painted parts now and have bolted it all back on, im very impressed with the new look rear end even if i do say so myself to complement the new number plate lights im going to buy new oe lights but probably go with the euro near side to tie it in with the other.
turbo is off hence drunk tailpipes
Looks a million times better, completely different car almost.
Looking much better now matey Well Done. You changing the side skirt's?
That looks Much better mate, you've done yourself proud with the build
Cheers Tony, James and babyblue these comments really spur me on. I do have a tendancy to wander off so these keep me on track most of the time. All in good time me old fruit Rome wasnt built in a day but yes i will change them, when i really dont know......... i really want to enjoy it and take it about for now though.
Just ordered the lights from Mike unfortunately he just sold the euro fog one im an impatient git at times so rather than wait ive gone for the uk spec both sides, a pleasure as always dealing with Mike.
Now that is a bit of me its all about a reem machine mate that looks the bo****ks it looks sweet mate
Top work!
What make roll cage is that?

Massive improvement! Keep at it dude!
Yes.
Cheers for all the latest comments, it's nice too know that all my hard work hasn't gone unnoticed
Aghh I just chucked 2 euro rear lights in the bin one looked spanking too. I had on eBay but no interest and wanted them gone.
My 5 used to be that colour.
Think I may have a pair or one spare new euro rear light mate if you change your mind
I'm bored so thought I'd throw some pics up, I've got kentraider coming round Sunday to hopefully assist me in finishing everything off, I've got to put turbo on, exhaust, oil temp gauge sender etc, front bumper, bonnet. Fill up with coolant, change oil, turbo heat shield number plates bla bla bla I should be able to get turbo on later and maybe a few other bits so it shouldn't be too much of a challenge. just had an attachment welded onto my exhaust as the old flange leaked like a sieve, and I got the turbo elbow milled flat as it had a bit of corrosion. New turbo and rear lights.
And my new pressed metal number plates oh and my repaired oil temp gauge
Mot has been booked for Thursday I bloody hate mot' s my daily passed with flying colours last week so hopefully the 5 will follow suit
She passed its MOT, only one advisory being the rear led indicator bulbs were too dark an orange in his opinion anyway I took her the long way home from MOT place as its not taxed yet, it smoked like a trooper on boost but slowly eased away, I'm guessing this was excess oil burning off in the exhaust from when the old turbo blew it's guts. Anyway it's good to be boosting again, can't wait for the retro show
I finished work at half seven this morning, but as it was a lovely morning I decided that rather than go to bed I would get my air corrector soldered up and drilled to 0.9mm while the family was still asleep Didn't take too long and hopefully It will be a bit richer at wot. Lots and lots of now though to keep me awake.
That's 5 devotion
Oi oi neil.....was the a.c 125 then bud ??
Been a while with updates, but it's also taken me a while to get motivation to work on it again. I took the car up to Retro show and tried a few times up the strip but it just kept boggin down and misfiring, so I put this down to the heat and gave up it was fine on way back home when the temps were on way down. Anyway when I got it home it was leaking oil like a sieve so with this new problem plus the fact it misbehaved on the strip, oh I forgot to mention the clutch slips every now and then I decided I needed a break from her. My visit to the Surrey meet last week gave me back the urge to play again so I decided to trace the oil leak. Luckily I think it's coming from a hose going to my inline oil stat, so I've ordered some better jubilee clips, also found a ickle leak from my bottom rad hose so I've just nipped the clip up a bit more. I've also decided to make a cheap intercooler water spray after my crap runs at Santa pod. Only going to cost me £15 and that's because I've just ordered another set of vauxhall insignia mist jets, because I feel it could do with one in the middle of my I/c. It's not finished yet but here's some pics.
Looking good mate I'm liking the new inter cooler mod now you can see why I put the Surrey meet together mate it give everyone that little inspiration now and then to pull there finger out I know it helped me massively when I was building mine keep going mate I love the colour of your 5
I've finally finished me intercooler spray thingy me bob, concealing the wiring was the main obstacle. I've got a few hours coming this Sat so will hopefully sort the oil leak and get it running again. I've also decided that over the winter ill get a 285 cam kit put in, as well as a l & b flywheel and a better clutch. And I will bite the bullet and put some standard side skirts on, not really looking forward to that bit because I've blended the charisma ones into the door shut, oh well best learn how to blend paint not sure whether to get ph 1 or ph2 rear arches I kind of like the black insert bit but not sure if it will suit my car, any ideas peeps.
You have ph1 trim under the rear lights. So I'd say, whatever you do, make sure you match up. Either add ph1 arches, or use ph2 arches and change the rear trim to suit
Turns out my oil leak was from a squashed o ring in between the oil stat, now what p##ck did that . Good job I received a free service kit from think automotive a while back, just hope I don't do the same again.
Received some new brakes from DeanGT5, many thanks. For a 2nd hand item they are in exceptional condition about 500 miles I think he said they have done so that might explain that Anyway I've just stripped away any rust and crap from around the discs and given it a coat of galvanised paint. As you might have guessed me and dirt don't mix. Also stripped and repainted the bolts. Hopefully I'll have a bit of time tomorrow to fit them.
New brakes are now on just got to bleed them then I'm good to go
hows it going fella? long time no speak lol glad you still have the beast.
im good my friend. and yeah may have one. been talking to a guy today. fingers crossed
My radiator had developed a weep, so I got a new rad from eBay and set at it with me hacksaw I had to get the outlet pipe to come out from the corner and at an angle to clear my boost pipe and for ease of draining it I added a bit more so I can reach it easier . Also had to cut the corner down to sit snuggly on the subframe where I've moved the rad over. I'm hoping to drive the old girl this Sunday weather depending it's only been over 3 months since I last drove her a few pics
Everything now working I hope. Off to go for a bit off boosting.
why did I put the mockers on it. I drove about 10 miles then me gear linkage fell out from its (brand new from renault) plastic bush, managed to cable tie it in place but didn't have reverse 1st or 2nd. Luckily I was only a few miles from home so just made it back. Umm why do we love these cars took a few pics before me drive with my other baby, luckily it's German and not French.
Car is back on axle stands well one anyway. It would appear my circlip has fallen out which held the plastic retainer into the gearbox. Not such a drama but very annoying.
