omex rev limiter with launch anyone know where best and easyest place to fit one of these ?
People normally just fix them in the scuttle area mate! Although there plenty of space in the cowling area under the steering wheel buddy, so easier for when setting the limiter and sorting the wiring for the clutch switch to, so I guess ignore what I've first said and fit it round there instead.
i was thinking of putting it to the right hand side of stering wheel but mainley refering to the wireing side of things where they go really and the launch switch where does that go to the clutch ???
I had mine fitted by Thundercat off here.
He made me a bracket and mounted it like the pic below.
Regards to fitting you need to connect the wires off the limiter to the + & - of the coil and then earth the unit to good clean metal.
The Aei module needs to come out for proper fitting as does the coil.
Another hole also needs to be drilled through the plastic aei casing to gain access to one of the coil connections.

You should have instructions? Or is this used item?
Anyway, the launch switch works the same way as the brake light pedal switch.
Your need to drill a hole for it I think, so the switch isn't tripped when the clutch pedal is press there fore actives the limiter, so when you let off the clutch pedal, it comes up and presses the switch (same as brake light switch as already stated.) which then shuts off the limiter and away you go.
It will make more sense when you get the kit out and look at it.
I have the fitting instructions here somewhere, I think I googled them....
Like this????

well ive just took the aei out of its black box but its a sealed unit know where to fit wires or anything ?
is there any diagrams on here that shows me what wires ect to chop into ?
Try search funtion?
Basically take the coil from its 'cradle' which is the AEI unit itself (a couple of tiny, but long torx I seem to remember) this exposes the coil connections that you connect the rev limiter to.
" launch control" the ultimate jb/jc gearbox breaker, turns tight syncro gearboxes to porridge
you have been warned
shall i leave the launch control off then if thats the case ? lol although my gearbox aint far from porridge anyway
I used couple bullet connectors on the front of the AEI, just above where the tdc plugs in. Have to strip bit of the plastic away for the connector to slide in.
yellow did you connect it to the tdc wires then ?
No, above where you plug the tdc lead in is where the coil connectore are.
so i gotta take the aei to bits then
No, I will take a picture tomorrow for you. Will all make sense then
yh that would be great m8 if you could shed a proper light on the subject im of rolling road wendsday so need it doing by then
Will sort for you tomorrow, you'll need couple of the red bullet connectors to crimp on.
what spad type ? what size
?
Did you sort pic out yellow ?
Sorry Kev, totally forgot... in the middle of moving house and storing stuff at my car.
Will call my mate now, the cars at his house, to see if he can take couple of pics and send them to me.
My mates going to send some pics shortly..................
got pics, trying to upload.......................
Send me a number mate have to text them
Not sure if me phones setup to receive pics mate pm sent thanks
Got there in the end......... make sense now ?
I've got the re 208 aei is this the same as I don't think I've got them connectors ?
Re208 is phase 1, Re209 is phase 2.
No real difference apart from a 500rpm difference in limit.
Is the 209 better ?
So the connector that goes
In between just earth it somewhere else on the unit then ? Or you mean the black wire from limiter ? What do I do with the plug that goes in between ?
You have 3 wires from the limiter, red ,blue and black. connect these as the picture.
My TDC plug is out because I'm working on car. That will get plugged back in or the car cant run.

Ok mate so just plug that back in between as usual ? I shall give it a shot in the morning and let you know how I get on thanks a lot for your help m8
Your welcome, make sure the red/blue wires go the right way or wont start.
Yes plug the TDC lead in.
I was referring to the blck plug that goes in between the red and blue does this still need to be connected ?
I didnt have a plug there. Not sure whats that is.
Looks like some kinda earth plug or sommot dunno to be honest
Fitted limiter as per pics and doesn't seem to be any life in it ? Should the lights on it light up when turn ignition on ?
Are you sure you've got the + & - wires right on the coil?
Also have you connected the earth wire to a good earth?
When you push both buttons together, it lights up and you set the rev limit.
Go through the setting up proccess from here, making sure you set it to four cylinders.
I set mine to 1000rpm to make sure it worked, then raised it to my max.

I cut away some plastic from the aei to reveal 2 round pins I connected the + and - to them tryed both ways around and tryed a couple of diferant earth places should the limiter light up when I turn ignition on ? Or do I need to push both buttons in to start it off ?
Ignition on, (dont start engine) it will only light up when you push both buttons tigether to set the limit. Then you + - to desired limit. turn ignition off or start engine.
.... Just like the manual says.
just tryed it as you said yellow and 2 lights came on so im thinking its factory set to 4 cylinder engine and 6000rpm will it stay setup at that now all the time ?
Yes, will hold that setting untill you reset.
Glad you got there
