Bit of an update to those interested:
Today I fitted a new alternator and tidied up the alternator wiring with some split flex and some zip ties. Re located my fan relay so it doesn't just hang in mid air. Fitted some new renault indicators and side repeaters too, just to finish off the front. I've also fitted the new yellow fogs from eBay (which are awesome and worth every penny).
It has a nearly new scorpion exhaust system which sounds alot better than the magnex that was on there.
After Tomtoms amazing work on the respray I've asked Chris to load me some pics up which he is very kindly doing for me.
So its pretty much finished now. I've put 250 miles on the old girl the last 2 weeks and its ran beautifully. Before the Enfield show its having a full valet and mop and clay bar.
Pics will follow.
Hi Dave,
The car is looking superb. I noticed you are in Essex? My blind purchase arrives on Tuesday and would be good to possibly have a look at yours and get some advice as my plan long term is to do what you have done with yours.

I want £5250 ovno. For those that know the car know that this car owes me well in excess of 6500 and is one of the nicest tungy 5's around. If you want a "OE" example then you won't go far wrong with this.
Please PM me with any questions you have.
this is a very good example. im sure anyone that views it will agree tom done an awsum job on the bodywork!!!
nice one tom
who ever buys wont be disapointed!!!!
Is there some new 5 tax coming into play or something we should all know about!
What's going on fellas?
Just finishing your cars and making them mint then selling
I get it though?? Would sell mine in a flash for the right price - F**KING Piece of shhhhhhhite
Lol. 5 tax wouldn't surprise me with our government mate!
I don't have the time for it now to be honest. Plus my mrs is going to be off work for 3 months as she's having a operation, so the extra funds will come handy.
The annoying thing is that in 4-5 years time they'll be worth loads!
lol na its just a sh*ty time at the mo. need the moneys. belive me its kicked me in the teeth selling it. but onwards and upwards. keep yours aslong as you can. they are creeping up.
if i had another five it will be efi and reliable over power. someone once came up with the idea of a dci five.
I hear ya Dave.....
It's the same for me really as Stuart probably understands best, I'm alway busy working, or visiting family (illness things), doing the house up etc etc etc etc
But I'm lucky I suppose, mine can just sit in the garage and when I've time or can be fooked get it out or tinker! Plus it cost me fook all to insure....
Good luck mate hope you get what you want it, and what it clearly deserves
Ooooo efi AND a bigger radiator so it doesn't need to be constantly checked on
lol just keep it and do the efi next year . its a nice little five that if ya aint worried about money and your happy to just have it in the garage then leave it there but if you need the wonga and have other prioritys the sell.
i think its only going to get harder to find good fives.
I won't be selling it, certainly not in the near future.......but as I said mate when you came down, just had to stop throwing money at it...priorities and all that
The cars are out there, but obviously the good examples are asking more now but it seems people want a minter for 2k
As always time will tell
Yeah saying that though, the good ones are shifting with less hassle ie Scott's and the raider on eBay.
The trouble is the tattier ones go for good money and the better ones are ridiculously overpriced like the raider up for 10K.
Like anything, these cars are only worth what people are willin to pay. :/
exactly that ,its worth what someone will pay. and its gotta be the right car for them.
theres an arse for evry seat
Yeah you're right mate, it's one end of the spectrum or the other- not much in between.
I think the fact the cars are so loved that they only end up being sold in a situation where the moneys needed. A desperate sellers never going to get what its worth hence several nice examples being sold for a bargain and lowering the value of others which are compared to them.
I personally hope you get what your asking I don't think people appreciate a nice example till they've bought a rotter and spent the same money making it presentable.(from personal experience unfortunately lol)
This has upset me i was hoping to roll over it naked at ND
I must of been mad putting mine up for 4k.Glad i didnt go through with it.Its 6k now.
I just don't want to put it on eBay really unless I have to- I know what will happen- ill just get mucked around. If it goes on eBay it's gonna be up for a higher price.
hey Casper - nice car - did you change the clocks on Vera ?? - they look very good
Hi Dave, sorry to see this up for sale but good luck it is a lovely car and completely solid! You have done a fantastic job!
Good luck Davo, ace work on the GTT.
Whatever you do next I hope you're sticking around RTOC
Bit of an update- the turbo seals are kaput on my 5, luckily I've found a turbo for it. Scotty has kindly offered to help me fit it. Good lad!
If the car isn't sold this summer it is going to go into long term storage and declared sorn. I'm going to leave it there until these cars are worth serious money.
Last chance to get a seriously mint 5 this summer! I'm in no rush to sell so won't be accepting stupid offers.
Well after the falling through of the sale i have decided to keep the 5.
I've just been over to R5 scotty's & bought a new water pump, steering rack, front discs and pads, wheel bearings, belt guide, rear windows, plastic trim, door cards (which will be flocked by Phoenix autosport), and a set of Renault Cup rims.
The rims are going to be powder coated this week and hopefully fitted next week.
Bigfoot has kindly sorted me out rear discs, pads & wheel bearings.
The car is now in the capable hands of Mr Metz, who as always will do a great job.
Ill post some pics up of the car next week once it's finally finished
This car won't be getting sold at all now as it owes me way too much money than what I'd get for it lol.
After all this is sorted ill be saving for a set of Koni shocks from the club shop. £££££'s spent but always worth it
Good news mate.... We can start an Essex meet
