The price is ambitious for a modded gtt...looks tidy though
The guys name is Cos, he's been a member on here for 10+ years. Although can't seem to find him on here right now
The car is immaculate, in the time i've known him its been stripped down and rebuilt twice.
He and i were one of the first to have the VNT's fitted and setup by MSM back in the day.
He always Done it right, where i was tuning for maximum power he would opt for relaibility. that said the car is quick.
I doubt he will end up selling it though, it's he's baby.
Morette's on a white GTT, I like them. Put the front grille, rear lights, rear spoiler and steering wheel back to OE, give it some nice Renault 15" wheels and that car would look fantastic. For once, I like what's been done to the seats
I remember this car when I picked a couple of trophys up at the last national day at mallory nice guy to talk to and it is a real clean car in the flesh
NoNoNo. Here starts the backlash against the backlash, I think we are losing too many of the really nice modded cars. There are now lots of great examples in original form and I think in a few years we will be tapping away here lamenting the loss of all those outrageous versions of the 5GTT which are, I think just as important as mine.
I think the Carisma car may still be for sale if you're interested in starting the new modified scene

If I recall correctly he might be the one who used to meet up at Ace Cafe some years ago. Has never posted in this 'new' site though.
yep the o.e brigade out again
car looks great as it is ,don't need anything changing
cant wait, in another 10 years people will be fitting what ever they can find on there cars o.e or not, that is of course the few that are left
probabley wont be any 13" tyres left by then either, then what will you all do

Looks like a nice GTT to me just the wheels and rear lights that I'd change.
£6k is stronge money but mk4 escorts go for that and more now days.
Maybe he's been asked to sell it as due to taking up the parents drive. So wack a unrealistic price tag on it and they're happy your trying to sell and your happy cause you know it won't.
I just saw that car on eBay. I think it looks the nuts. I remember flushing tailgates was a
Proper 90's mod on the 5 and the Novas. Great mod
Nothing wrong with a modded lary 5 if the mods are done well.
OE brigade? Whatever.
Since when were; morettes, delocked doors, removed decals, lowered suspension, smoothed bumpers, 3" exhaust, fancy registration plates, after-market dials, Clio rear wiper, debadged tailgate, clear repeaters, crystal indicators, deleted tow eye cover and colour-coded wing mirror bases factory standard parts?
As they were the non-OE things that would have been left on the car after the 3-4 changes I suggested. Not to mention the multitude of engine bay and interior mods
There will no doubt be some degree of swing back towards the classically modified GTT's, everything goes in cycles. In fact it started a while ago.
However, I didn't like a lot of the modifications when they first came out and I don't like them now, that's just me. One of the reasons was that they were often done with poor workmanship. Another was that random parts were shoved on whether they looked good or not.
One thing that has been coming along with GTT's (and that wont go along as part of a larger cycle), is that the quality of work to these cars has improved and continues to do so. This has been great to see.
I'm wondering if the oe v modified thing is age related? Now that I'm approaching 40, I do not like the look of modified 5's at all...very rarely do I see one that I think looks nice.
However, going back to my late teens, early twenties I much preferred a modified 5. So I'm guessing as we age, our tastes possibly revert back to the classic look rather than the boy racer look?
Just my thoughts.
I don't mind modified cars, as long as the quality of work is there....
I would never buy a Dimma kitted 5 etc, but I do love the look of one that's in mint condition... Look at soapymechs 5, pretty unique, but perfectly done, great bodywork, great paint (never seen the engine bay but sure it's looking nice), Brigsy van.. Heavily modified, but subtly done... With silly power... Looks mint
This GTT on eBay looks very week looked after, I would change a few things but by the looks of it atleast the buyer would be confident in knowing the bodywork is straight, clean, looks rust free and should be on the road for a few more years...
Absolutely. If done right, styling modifications can be great (or at least interesting, as long as the quality is there).
Everyone has different tastes, and then there's over-arching sentiment. In recent years the general tendency has been towards the OE look but since that has meant less and less kits, it's also the very reason for the gathering nostalgia for some of the 90's modifications.
GT Tuning shark fins anyone? Give it a few more years and some of those discontinued modified parts will be very sought after. Just not by me.
Looks like its sold already? Listing ended.
probably going to keep it now
another nice example
