Strip & rebuilding my Group A carb advice

Any advice/tips (apart from replacing it with a standard one)
ill strip/clean and put it back together with new gasket etc,
Ive Noticed it floods & leaks a bit from the Accelerator pump.

im going to check the diaphragm, try a 1.22 & 1.25 Main jet instead of the current 1.30
as it runs so rich im constantly getting black soot out the Exhaust..

Any advice tips wil be highly appreciated peeps

Feel free to pop round for a cuppa and help

Check the rest of the jets for there sizes, once you cleaned it all thoroughly and put it on car check the AFR's and adjust jet sizes to suit boost your running

    Cheers Mark,
My AFR is in the post ,
Wallace is going to solder it in to the downpipe for me.

    I have several new Jets 1.22 1.25 1.30 etc..
Think maybe the 1.30 is too big.
Is it true that they can soldered down in size?

Yes you can solder the jet and then re-drill to what size you are after

    Is the dreaded Diaphragm?

Is this the dreaded Diaphragm? (see att pic)
I noticed 2 or 3 very small cracks/splits so did a macro shot highlighted in yellow.
Another question is, would this be the cause of slight fuel Seepage in the other pic,
where the Acc arm moves back n forth?
Because even stationary engine off its slowly seeping out.

If it is, i don't have a replacement and wondered where i could buy a new one.

    Thanks

yes that gasket would be the cause of the leak, not sure you can get the gasket individually think it's in a complete gasket set only. Worth messaging Mike he will confirm if available seperatly.

    Excellent! Thanks.
I'm hoping that's the only cause!
Ill ask around if anyone or Mike has a spare to sell,
    if not buy the set

For the cost of a gasket set worth replacing all the gaskets with new and giving the carb a good clean through

Extra £ for the throttle seals, and that kit doesn't come with the idle jet o-ring, nor the large plenum o-ring.

If the club's out of stock though, I guess that leaves little choice...

Saying that, if you can hang fire 24hr, I'll have a look in my box of carb' spares to see if I've got a spare accelerator pump diaphragm you can have.

Re: Strip & rebuilding my Group A carb advice

Measured my main jet, its 1.3
I have another jet that is bigger than a 1.2 (1.2 drill bit moves around), but the hole doesn't fit a 1.3 drill bit, on the side the marking looks like a 1.25.

Also, Could someone show me where/what the Venturi is/looks like?

I have a standard T2 (i think), Group A carb (apparently the venturi was enlarged) and a 1.3 installed but the carb overfuels like crazy and sends out **** loads of soot on the exhaust & plugs..
Should i use/try the 1.25ish jet? or just go with 1.2?

As said on facebook ditch the large venturi carb and get a std one

This is a large venturi carb

Is this Group A worth more or less than a standard one?
I'll replace the few bits that need replacing, put it back together so its in good working order then flog it on Fleabay and buy a std one.
