Engine steady-bar? use or no use

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Hi, I have changed my subframe on my 5, but it doesn't have holes for the steady-bar (at front) under the radiator, is it essential for the engine, or can you drive without it?

If it is essential i will have to weld the bracket on, no problem though.. just a bugger to take the engine off the subframe again and repaint the area etc..

As you can see it is 90% ready to go in..

Those i run all my fives with one fited, they always seem to crack or undo themselves with abuse. I've seen other turbo cars with engine supports or dampers mounted higher up the block and always thought of fabricating one.

I used to run 1 but now I'm running the scoff rear mount and the Logg front pair of mounts with my f7r turbo setup and the engine hardly moves

Yeah, that's the one. Tbh unless there's play in your engine mounts it doesn't really touch the cup it sits in so not much use.

I fit a plastic collar into mounting block to take up the play, works really well engine movement very limited.
