Research is usually based on the rule of three principle ......It basically boils down to lack of support from members .
Most of the old guard has moved on/grown up/kids/life ....It needs new blood with fresh enthusiasm and thick skin![]()
Jesus has it really been that big a hit?!not good. Still there's no reason why we can't run it again next year, just buy less tickets? Real bad news this though
![]()
Well blyton was a good hit and this pod day mixed with vw etc and the crap summer we have had , don't think it's lack of support .
There was loads of support at national day.
It's an accumulation of things. It's the only thing me and our kid are interested in aswell![]()
I was so looking forward to this day early on in the year but due to circumstances i haven't been able to be a deffo. If I can get there .... Would I buy a ticket to run of a fellow member or just pay 60 quid to the fellas on the gate ?
I think the general idea this year was overall a good one
The camping could have done with being organised better but the fact it's clashed with the vw event is out of our control.
As has been stated September isn't a good month, as it's the last time for a lot of people to go on holiday, hence lack of funds for other things. The fact that ticketing on the day has been a little confusing also hasn't helped, the nature of our cars means that a lot of people won't commit to buy months in advance incase their car ends up broke or in a million bits as most tend to at some point
This coupled with the fact that as a club in general the attention is shifting away from performance facts and figures and more towards restoring and preserving our cars as o e examples, and the track day side of our club has also increased since I first became a member.
Pod doesn't flote everyones boat, I fully understand that as to be honest track days don't really do it for me hence I haven't been to a National day in years. It would be a shame from my point of view to scrap a pod day on the basis of one year not being as busy. I understand that financially as a club/organisation sometimes decisions have to be made to preserve the clubs future and i will respect whatever decision is made with regards to next year.
I think if the event was earlyer in the year and National day was a little later, camping was better organised and the event as a whole was pushed on the boards/facebook ECT a little more we would get a better turn out. Like has been said if next years ends up the same then fair enough time to shelve the idea.
I'm willing to help in anyway I can to put towards the organising of next years event, if we have one.
As I have said before, I'm gratefull for everyones input into this years event and I'm looking forward to a cracking weekend and hopefully we will get a few more runners turning up on the day.
Also guys, if Glenn is coming this could be the first time we see our lowly 1.4 8 valve pushrod motor run a 10 second quater mile!
That's surely got to be worth seeing![]()
its still up in the air if I can make it or not
end of the day though, its not massively difficult to rock up to pod and organise a meet there in the future if we need to, it doesn't have to be an officially organised one, its just it'll be busy is all, that's whats good about the RTOC pod days, you get a lot of goes and primarily the queues is what puts people off pod. they don't like spending 80 quid or whatever on a Saturday night special to do 2 runs. on the RTOC day its the car or driver that gives up first, not the availability of the track!![]()
When ever run on these type of days you will be unlucky if you have to wait 10 mins, most of the time it was just drive round and pull straight on ready to go up the strip. Only 100 cars allowed on this day when normally a RWYB day has about 100 just in the queue up to the strip.
I think the whole drag racing thing has passed, i remember q'ing past the cafe for a run at 10am in the morning (2 years ago) and went the other month and left by lunchtime as the same 10 cars going up. Then the other week to a retro show and thats the most people i've seen at pod for a few years and it was only back to the crossing at the signing on entrances so no massive q again.
Can anybody tell me who I can my tickets off on the day rather than get them off gate ?
Cars waterd and oiled and ready to go!!
Im just about ready now. Done valve clearances and gapped plugs etc on the van this morning. Boost turned up to 1.7 bar, need to go out and do some testing later as far too dodgy to do it in the daytime.
I need one entry ticket and two full day tickets who do I see on the day?
Done a 12.66 last year id like to go faster if poss. That was with a 1.7 60ft though and i dont think that will be possible with this .64 rear on this turbo..we will have to wait and see i guess!
You got anything to run?? It wont be the same without the pmt vs bd challenge!
Ah yeah i remember now, you did it Pod Day last year when i had the tungy 5. It was the year before you done the 12.8. Getting the past events mixed up now!![]()
Thats good going though, never know might be able to knock little off that.
No not got anything to run this year mate even though i bought a tickert to run!, i intended to run van but sold it few weeks ago and not had the red 5 mapped yet so i'll be watching all day

Miller should be picking up the remaining tickets from me tomorrow .If not then I've sent Scoff half a dozen so he will have some .
You will have to pay on the gate to get in but then please try and find the RTOC lads if you want tracktime .
Nottswoody ,I'm in all day tomorrow if you want to swing buy and collect from me ,It would mean we don't lose the entry fees to POD![]()

For anyone camping tonight at pod the Rtoc camping area is at the end of the strip.
So head into the main paddock and follow the road the end, we are in a field behind the new hanger as you come off the strip.
