Personally I thought your car deserved the award, I thought the paintwork/bodywork was absolutely pristine and overall looked excellent.![]()
It's been an awesome thread, thanks for taking the time to put the updates on here
Btw, if you decide to break, I am building a make-shift shed at home. I'll have the doors to use as the corrugated roof
![]()
Why would anyone want to slate this cari personally think this is one of my favorites on this forum
and the wheels are a big plus for me, wolfrace voodoos i think. Top work and i hope you keep updating your thread.
Congratulations on your medal too![]()
I really like your car mine is a tungy aswell which i am restoreing and for me your car is the bench mark you and your dad should be really proud
Very well done mate.. There were a number of very very clean r5s there.. but.. i have a very good idea for well layed/afterpreped paint and ive said from day one the paint on this r5 is of a very high standard and it does show. Well done matey![]()
lol unfortunatly not dude , my problem is i get to itchy , and drive the cars to much to ever have them quite that clean lol, but i do try,
cars that impressed me in the show and shine were yours, james surridges as that thing is always so damn cleanand black and the red r5 owned by the french, very clean cars and pin sharp straight.
thoroughly deserved imo, the effort and time thats gone into the car on a budget and the result is great, it had the wow factor for me
wheels are marmite though and i hate!lol! used to have them in 17" on my first valver until i saw the light!!![]()
Thank youWas good to meet you mate. Did you get on the rolling road with your dirty tyres
I have already seen the light regarding the alloys lol but its all money! I want to get the standard speedlines back on but they all need tyres and i simply cant afford that luxury at the moment with a 3 year old and one on the way

Absolutely quality car my friend. Very Impressed.
If my car is 50% of what yours is when finished, I will be a very happy man.![]()
Well done mate, it was a very tidy 5, that you can see a lot of time and effort has been put into it.![]()
Ignore certain comments off bitter people who think they are the db's![]()
Well done matewish I came. Il try and make it to next years
Well i wasnt going to update this thread anymore, but i guess no restoration is ever completely finished![]()
So...managed to get hold of a set of standard speedlines with really good correct size tyres off Leebourner![]()
Really pleased with them![]()
I also seem to be having photobucket issues at the momentIve sorted a new account so all my other pics will be back soon.

good man.. !!! .. changing them wheels will complete that motor!!
The std wheels will look great in an OE way and your car will be like new, but i also love the look of your wolfrace wheels, perhaps keep the speedlines imaculate for shows?
Finally sorted all my pictures, mostly same as before but with a few new ones in there too![]()
great thread, great car
![]()
I don't know why some people don't like the Wolfrace wheels. I think they look great in the ND pics![]()
Black wheels were cool for about a week in the summer of 2009.

You've done a very good job of bringing your 5 back to that condition, very nice!Where did you get the origonal graphics from and how much were they if you don't mind me asking?
Im currently in the process of beginning the refurb on the Speedlines.
Tyres have all been removed and the wheels checked for straightness and cracks/damage. Three were perfect but one was literally egg shaped.
Annoying really as i was told they were all straight before i bought them
The "egg" was swapped for a straight spare and then i gave them all a good general clean up.
We now need to decide whether to get them blasted or chemically stripped

Good to see old pics of the car when you got it, before you did anything as you can see exactly how far its come on now! To be honest still has appeal to me in that pic as afterall its a gt turbo! great car mate, saw it in the metal at Blyton park, its stunning! good work bud![]()
![]()
Now that's come a long way to say the least!![]()
What a transformation from when you got it mate
Get the speedlines blasted & powdercoated, hard wearing finish![]()
Not commented in here before but after seeing the before pictures and how it is now all I can say is well done, what a transformation. All the hard work was worth it.
Must admit though, I actually really like the wheels it came with, any idea what they were?
Back in the day I really wanted a set of voodoos for my mk2 golf but it never happened
