yeah looks really worth while the way your cars coming along lol.

try looking for the Bee R Rev limiter, mainly for efi cars but im sure you can make it work on a carbed motor, be warned that they are very hard cut and cause alot of sr20 rocker assemblies to smash apart

a mate destroyed a Mountune Cossie race engine with a hard cut. The collets dropped out of an exhaust valve.

please... enlighten me... I know jack **** about rev limiters... what's the difference between hard and soft cut and what's the best option for a carbed R5?

Exactly. If there's a gain to be had (and I've haven't Googled to find out as yet), it can't be worth risking your engine.

I remember once upon a time in Southend, a little Raider with white wheels hitting the rev limiter at every opportunity down the seafront. Maybe the driver's learnt to change gear since then

    Nope.

    Oh

That'd be the same Markey Mark & the funky bunch who fecked his/a previous engine with over-use of a flamer kit then, no?

Pretty sure there-in lies an already good example of FAIL...

    Really?

Must've been another raider with white wheels then, as I never had a rev-limiter fitted to that car.

If it's fitted as standard, that doesn't mean it gets used Anyway, as you well know, it's running after-market ecu anyway

Yes you did, mounted on the dash, i'm sure the mounting holes are still there. You tried selling it to me as well when you grew up and ripped it out

I swear there was. I remember you and JP both doing it, it was back when I first met you. Then when I was following you over the Dartford crossing on the way home you hit the limiter and your exhaust did a Bunsen Burner impression, which well impressed my mate

Maybe its the boy racer in me from back in the day but I gotta say that looks/sounds cool.

And if I understand it right the Bee R Limiter is a two stage limiter so when the handbrake is on (or any added switch) the limiter comes in at a lower RPM. So you can set the first stage to optimum RPM to launch.

Never really read into this so Im going googling!

Can it work with a carbed engine?

Maybe Im still tired but how can it cause damage?

oh no, rev limmiters are un cool now ?

I insisted on having one in my C1J after the linkage under the carb popped out and locked the throttle wide open one time, killing the bottom end at 9000rpm (it went off the 9000rpm tacho scale!!) as I dipped the clutch just after the finish line.

I used it a lot with flat shifting, without a clutch switch, just as a limiter. I didn't do this with the 16v engine in fear of shafting the gearbox, I'll be back on the limiter again next year

Could've been worse - The limiter bouncing away at 7k could've induced a cracked liner...maybe :worms: (<--- there's another smiley we need)

    Dilley Blackout:[dil-eblak-out] - Noun

    A) a period of total memory loss, as one induced by an accident or prolonged alcoholic drinking: The patient cannot account for the bizarre things he did during his blackout.

    B) a moment when a KNOWN Fact about Mart The Failboat Captain Dilley is totally refuted by him but then proved to be totally owned at a later date.

Example: "I Don't own a Blue Jumper?!" "I Don't know what your on about?"
