Dude, it all depends which light has come on? If it’s the engine management light, you will need to plug in a Launch machine or another diagnostic bit of kit to tell you exactly what is wrong...
Light could come on for various reasons, misfire, dodgy injector, etc...
You will also need said machine to remove the light! My uncle use to charge his mate about £50 to plug in and play, I think you'll be lucky to find a garage that does it that cheap... Good luck.
Well it's not so much a light it's a discription it says warning emissions gearbox fault and it's fireing on 2 cylinders. I looked on the net and it seems it's a common fault on the net it says change the coil pack £48 but the part that's worrying my dad is the gearbox part of the MSG. My theory was because its not firing right is it causing the auto box to have faults too? He's just baught it from pentagon but the warrenty has ran out.. I hope the auto box isn't gone..
you will definately need to get it plugged in.
As you're in Nottingham the only place id take it to for diagnostic and working on Renault is a chap called Mick who runs Diamond Motors. He has all the facilities to get it sorted. Google Diamond Motors for contact details, he's on Cliosport and ran a Renault car club years ago.
Top bloke
Misfire does affect the gearbox sometimes, worse case scenario for the gearbox is an evm valve or press modulation fault. The valve can be fitted and gearbox reprogrammed, but is an expensive job, agree with everyone else on here, get it plugged in and diagnosed by someone who knows what they are doing.
