Don't see many silver ones... Looks like that thing needs a hell of a lot of work doing to it. I'll help you out with a job list

    1. Wash it

    Re: New R5 Project II

Had a spare couple of hours on the R5 tonight - fitted a sony cd player which took ages. Firstly old pioneer stereo had been spliced into the car loom so had to sort that out. Lots of soldering which I hate! Then when I went to fit the ariel cable in the headunit found out guy Id bought it off had split the old ariel in the unit.

So ended up having to strip down the head unit! But all sorted now.

Just cleaning the interior light circuit board tonight as its abit coroded!

However was good tonight to see all the dashboard switches light up

Next job will be to sort glovebox light and boot lights out plus change bulb in one of the front fogs.

Not much progress on the R5 but have managed to get the interior light and map reading light working again plus the glovebox light.

Just a couple of pics I took today before taking the car out for a spin!

    Re: New R5 Project II

Well was bored tonight and didnt feel like watching the footie so decided to strip the rear of the 5 out so I can make a start on the sagging quarter panels - got abit carried away and ended up with a living room like this!

Anyway next step of the project is to get these all nice and clean

It was too dark to take a pic of the stripped rear but all I can say is its imaculate and I was in shock at how good a condition its in! Big thumbs up to Roger for keeping the R5 in such good condition!

if your fabric is comming away i can turn them into this for £60 + post, colour is matched to an original unbleached piece of door card cloth (taken from where it was covered by top trim)

or if you want door cards to match i can do front and rears for £150

its very durable and wont pull away like fabric as its applied as individual fibres, i dont want to flood this thread with flocking info, if you have any other questions please post them in my thread

    Re: New R5 Project II

Interior strip out completed today and doorcards given a good clean!

All seems ok although i need the passenger side sill panel inspection cover and a passenger side parcel shelf support.

    This needs a good clean!

VIP carpet is now drying after a good blast with the pressure washer. Hopefully can reassemble the R5 over the next week!

So far it seems to be a really good shell! I was surprised how good the boot was!

Hopefully will get interior reassembled on Monday - just got to wait for VIP carpet to dry.

    Looks nice and tidy!!

If you want the rear doorcards to look like new, get yourself some spray glue and carefully stick the original fabric back on. I done mine and a couple of hours later they were like new, total cost of £4

    Cheers

I had a try with some spray glue and hve sorted them best I can but there not perfect but will do for now. The main problem I have is on the passenger side doorcard next to the door handle where the card seems too have shrunk which isnt too great - No idea how im going to sort that!

Cheers Andy - you should see the amount of dirt that comes out of them its proper vile! This one didnt even look that bad but was full of crap!

To finnish today I now have working foglamps and rear boot light. Plus gave under the bonnet a very quick clean. Was good to see shes still on her original engine!

    Re: New R5 Project II

Decided today to tackle the engine bay. After a good clean it isnt uber spotless but does look loads better. Also got the bumper put on correctly as it wasnt held on very well! Speedo had also packed up but it was just the connector behind the clock that needed a clean, plus gave the tyres a good pump up. Next job is to replace the front driver seat and get a new steering wheel. Plus get some interior plastics that are missing.

Including rear speaker quarters that are very clean!

Well big thanks to Jon aka 5279 for sorting out and rebuilding my carburettor today.

It was in quite a state and looked like it had never been rebuilt, also the accelerator pump was completely seized.

R5 runs loads better now although I need to get the fuelling tweeked alittle for optimum performance!

I will let the pictures do the talking:

    during

Well past few nights ive been working on repairing the drivers seat, which was quite badly worn as can just be seen in this pic

A donor seat (cheers Jon) has helped me make a good seat out of the two.

Seeing my old R5 and how clean the standard speedlines were! It put the speedlines on mine to shame, so after abit of cleaning tonight I managed to make them presentable! Next job is to try and give the paintwork abit of a detail to make the R5 look presentable. Although it will require a full respray!

Ok this weekends project has been to give the rear boot panel a spray totry and make the car more presentable. Am quite happy with how its comeout, its not perfect by any means but looks loads better than it was before. Problem is it put the under light trims to shame so will prob tackle them next.

    As it was
