Hi everyone.. I've been the proud owner of this 5 GTT since 2009 and over the last year or so I haven't really shown it much love. It spends most of it's time sat in the garage gathering dust so I drove it up to my folks place yesterday and gave it the love it deserves. I've spent the day cleaning and polishing it and it's come up really well.
Some brief history of the car: It was purchased from SMAC dealership in Chelmsford way back in 1989 then a couple of years later it moved to Lancing, West Sussex where is was barely driven. In 1995 it was garaged and not shown the light of day until early 2008. After 13 years of being sat hidden in a garage it turned up at a mechanics where the previous owner to me worked. At this point it had 14,000 miles on the clock. Very little work was needed to get it going again and luckily 13 years of captivity had no adverse affect.
I bought it in April 2009 with 17,600 on the clock and have owned it to date. In the last three years I've added another 4,000 miles so its still very low mileage. TBH sometimes it feels a bit of a burden owning it as old motors' require extra care and attention but I love it nonetheless. Its a very special little car to me.. there's been a GTT in my life every year almost since their beginnings back in the mid eighties.
I took a couple of shots and I couldn't resist sharing them with the club. I don't know much about detailing but I gave it my all with an Autoglym clay-bar and HD Wax and it came up a treat. I'll take some more and post if anyone's interested. It's 100% standard and it will remain that way forever
The last tax disc before it was garaged in 1995 still on display.
Thanks for looking
