Any update on this?
Its been tucked away in the garage since September, uni work has taken over my life!
I've got a few jobs left to complete:
1 paint side skirts, bumpers, gril and bonnet
2 kit the engine up and fit new T25.
3 fit coilovers and lower rear.
I've just taken a new job, so i'll need to complete over the next couple of months to move house. I'll probably pay someone to finish the paint work, as i've not got enough spare time and the garage is too cold to paint.
Looking amazing, please finish it
Well today has been a challenge remembering where all the brackets and nuts and bolts go I've got a fair bit done today.

Looking good glad i spurred u on
Got some electrical gremlins to sort out. No oil warning light when ignition is on and the indicators don't work when the rear lights are connected. Probably some dodgy GND's.
Just noticed youve got the wrong oil filter on there. Its the long narrow filter you have as found on lesser model R5`s alot of people have had oil pressure drops when using them....Get yourself the flatter type O.E filter
Been busy over the last few days; cleaned all coolant and boost pipe and give them a silicon coating to make them shine.
Finished refurb'ing the front grill
Also blasted and repainted the airbox
This is how the engine bay is looking this evening; tomorrow is should be complete
Looks good.....The part number you want for the o.e oil filter is 77 00 727 482
Dont chance it with the one you currently have fitted
had a full day on the car today, but it was bloody freezing outside. Engine is now finished apart from some vacuum pipes and a new oil filter
I'd get a few filters in one go, saves u ordering and waiting, once its all built you'll want to do a few changes. should imagine they may do a bit better discount if u buy a few.
Great work so far, looking forward to seeing the end result!!!!!!!
Got the rear bumper painted today, looks good but slight dust issue it will do for now.
Get rid of that piston d/v bud! I've no problem with d/v's on a GTT at all but the Bailey piston-type d/v's are known to cause problems. The residue in boost has the piston sticking in no time and it can kill various expensive things.
Also, get new headlights.
Very tasty 5 mate!
It's probably been covered else where but why are you painting the grill and bumpers in black?
Ah ok, just checking.
Yep, I was originally gunna keep the bumpers the off white colour they came in but after seeing the first one painted I decided it needed to be darker so I told the guy and he said he had something that'd do the job, next time I saw the bumpers they were all painted and on the car, I wasn't sure at first but they seem to work ok with the OE pearl white
Went home in my lunch break and fitted the rear bumper. Slowly getting there, plan is to prep the front bumper tonight!
nice, black and white
I think this is going to be one of the tidiest cars going!!! love it!!
Thanks everyone for the positive comments, this forum has give me loads of motivation, some of projects on here are amazing
I'm back in work tonight, painting the side skirts
its a lovely example
I'm looking forward to seeing how a pearl white 5 looks with a black body kit, never seen one.
Keep up the good work fella, looks tidy and will be a credit to ya
very very nice
Fitted the arches and side skirts last night, very pleased with the result. So i've got a front bumper and the tailgate trim left to paint.
I'm probably going to fit the bonnet without repainting it, as I'd rather wait for warmer weather to get the best finish.
So the plan is to have the car on the road by next friday
Please take that piston d/v out before you drive it anywhere!
For the reason stated in my previous post @ 16-01-2012 20:58.
ah cool, i'm using forge one and i'm happy with it.
Yours is a diaphragm type, different concept. Yours is fine. Assuming the one in your project pics is the one you're talking about.
Love it !
dean , i just love the phase 1....mainly cos its old like me... but i have to say bud , youve done a crackin job...refurb some phase 1 rims or some steelies and your there bud.....
My ph1 rims are pretty good, just need a set of tyres for them. I'm not sure if I should get rid of the turbines and put the originals back on?
More painting done tonight: tailgate trim, Under light trims, and wing mirror painted.
Hopefully be in a position to start her up over the weekend
Well she runs after a year of being in bits! I need to fit exhaust and coolant then the engine is done.
Tomorrow fit gaz coilovers, track rod ends, ball joints.
yay, congrats
