    On a serious note guys, how much is this thing worth in its current state? It looks like a sack of **** to me but I can imagine it being worth £££ if restored. Question for me is..... Is it too far gone??

    i think to restore it there'l be loads of parts not available and people selling at a premium, i think itll take alonggggggggggggggg time to find all the bits too, its not going to be a quick turnaround. I really cant believe how much it sold for.

    the last 8221 road car I saw for sale was the ex radbourne rhd demo car. interior was a bit in a nice cream leather, but I think that went for 15k ish maybe a bit more! it was on the road, with the 1419cc engine and a folder of history that needed a van to move it!



    well that Red Turbo 1 thats always on ebay won't sell for that price

    the race car with spare MIGHT sell, but where are you gonna race it, prob best to buy it and turn the spare shell into a road car and quickly

    You can still get most parts, due to the cult status over in France. Would cost abit though...

    The one at GTO- was that the one being sold by wayside garage in norwich for £25k a few years ago?

    mmmm doubt it!!!

    my mate had a intergrale and nearly every part was available from Fiat! and at a fair price.

    if you can find someone that can use the 'old' imac in a dealer (if they still have it) that has the turbo 2 parts fische on, and then they check the part numbers there's a good chance the numbers have never been put into the UK parts system. Then Reno uk have to email france, or if it has a 60xx part number, just order it from renault sport dieppe and wait for the fax to come back with 'the bird' drawn on it!!!

    so then its off to a French specialist who will call you 'rost beef' at every chance he gets, thats if he can wake up from his sleep to answer an email

    aahhhh oohhhh how I miss those days!

    I'm restoring a 8221 currently and I can tell you that some of the parts if you want originals are becoming impossible to find.

    I'm still looking for a cold start, drive shafts and the correct coloured steering column surround, if you know of these parts please let me know.

    cold start - give me the bosch number....

    do you need the bronze or the black coloured left hand drive column surround?

    Driveshaft UK will make you any driveshaft you need, if you have the dimensions. Cheap too. And the main cvs are all std renault so no need for huge price hikes.

    I know the seller and the car. Its a genuine 1 of 200 made 8221 with alloy roof. Arches are the wider TDC ones and most of these homologation cars were a bit ropey as they were expected to be crashed in events! Take a look at the panel fit and wobblyness of "YB's" bodywork and tell me its good.
    Reason its being split from box is that its really being sold as a set of vin plates to "legitimise" a replica/reshell out there as it makes it worth around 80k as previously stated and the box with its 4k worth of Maxi gears has sold for a very good price.

    Thanks for your help everyone, the light at the end of my tunnel just got a little bit of a brighter glow (it has been a long long tunnel of over 2 years so far)

    shell, should be going for paint in the next week or so, an I'm starting to feel like a kid with anew bike

    P.S. Bruce, don't be too upset, 15K was allot for a none runner was all that was said. I think all the 8221 and 8220's were made on the same (as good as it gets 1980's france) production line, so should be no more ropey than the rest!
