    Carb Pipework

    hi there
    ive started sorting all of the problems on my 5 and came across some pipework which doesnt look right
    the picture shows a pipe connected to the bottom of the carb after reading threads on here am i right in thinking that the aei vac line should be connected here


    and if the above is correct. the pipe that the other end is connected to is connected to the brass nipple which im not sure what it is can anyone tell me what should be connected to it excuse the hose pipe someone has bodged that on there lol

    aei should be connected to your inlet manifold about there(pic)
    brass nipple is ur boost backup for ur accellerator diafram....connected to carb top elbow through a 4way connector

    thanks for the reply. should the pipe from the brass nipple be connected on the drivers side of the carb top or the passanger side. sorry for being stupid im still learning

    It won't matter mate as long as it see's boost.

    Leave that brass "nipple" free to air this is the "Doris mod" the acellerator pump works fine without seeing boost and all it does is leak your precious boost away. Try connecting a pipe onto there and blow down it to see hom much resistance there is.

    ok guys ive connected all of the pipes how i think they should be and now the car wont idle properly. ive got -20 vac pressure but a very lump idle any ideas.
