steering rack ??

got a bit of play in the wheel left to right, i pressume is in the rack, can i repair it or do i need new.
Also what sort of job is it ?.

i would first check the "flexible" intermediate coupling between the bottom of the colum and the rack as this may be where the play lies or at least take out enough play to make good for another year or so, if it is the rack it just bolts to the bottom of the bulkhead, nothing complicated but as with anything on a 5 its getting to it, if you can get under the car with space to work you will be fine, from memory i think mine was fitted with nyloc nuts which had to be replaced for new as they wont work properly if re-used
