my f7p wont idle correctly. it keeps jumping from 1000rpm to 1500 rpm back and forth. idle control has been swapped any ideas?

temp switch/sensor was a classic on some cars..
Also could be a vacuum leak, sometimes the inlet manifolds warp or even split i've heard
If someone has pissed about with the position of the tps, it can do this.
Or if the preset position of the air bypass in the throttle body has been moved.
If the speedo wiring loom behind the dash is disconnected, it will stay at 1500rpm.
If it hunts/flares 10 times and then idles, more than likely the 02 sensor.
Phase 1 or phase 2 loom for engine?
So if I run gtt clocks with no speedo in my conversion does it mean I will. Have idle issues ? I'm running a turbo map fastchips jobbie
Can't comment on the fadtchips jobbie, it may have something built into it that may bypass certain things.......
The mechanical style speedo cable from the Clio 16v has a short stub of wiring and a 3 pin plug iirc, if this connection to the loom of the ecu isn't present, it will idle at 1500rpm.
If you have dialogys or access to it page 53 of TN 1651A is where the info is.
Hope this helps, Matt@CRM
i have swapped the ecu and im getting the same results, if i turn the idle speed down then it hunts badly but if i raise it to say 1400 rpm it will sit steady.
i was going to say lambda sensor. they like to play up alot
I will have to see then, may just go standalone from the off if it messes about, I do have a speedo cable I think from the 19...
When you say idle screw, I guess you mean the brass screw in the top of the throttle body? This is the one that should be sealed up and never moved, as they were set from factory and sealed with something resembling thixo.
If you gave a phase 1 loom there won't be an 02 sensor and there will be an adjustable potentiometer near the ign module.....
You can test an 02 sensor with a blow torch and a multimeter.
Sounds more like a tps problem, needs to be set up with xr25 or clip.
Thing is the clio has a cable & on the cable are 3 wires matey, unless you find which wire it is you need to ground on the ecu I don't think doing the GTT wire will help.
Try to find which is pin 3 on the ecu & earth it James as that is the VSS.
You will just need a multimeter on the buzzer & stick one in the pin 3 & then buzz which wire it is.
