you need to check for leaks in the inlet pipework. if the flap aint rising up enough it will be too rich and misfire. i assume you have an air enrichment flap thingy too - check that too

You must have paid a few bob for it.

I love them when fitted with the polished rs 7's and love the series 2's with the standard rs 7s, if i ever get 6 numbers rest assured a couple of rs escorts would be in the 10 car garage

Looked on facebook, it does look nice

That looks rather tasty back in the day between owning 5 GTT's I owned a series 1 rs turbo in yellow it was a bad re-spray by a previous onwer as in the engine bay it was still white she was on a c plate was very comfy with the recaro's. Only had it a year wasn't the most reliablist of cars for me sold it in favour of an XR2 mk2 turbo technics conversion

Honestly i didn't get it sprayed bought it like that was quiet a nice yellow I was young at the time and not as collectable as they are now I think one of the owners since me had it and had it sprayed white with a very slight blue pearl in it.

    Re: series 1 rs turbo

    that sounds better
when i think back to what i did to some of my old cars it makes me gringe
for example on my first gt turbo it was only 4yrs old with 1 owner, and as soon as i got it i chucked out the radio, floormats, front grille, alloys, also took side decals off for
no reason at all but at the time you dont think of them turning into classic etc....

for me these cars define what it is to be a boy racer and this is not anything negative. i have owned quite a few of these over the years and are a big fan of them, will deffo own another one day. to add to the list of things to check i would check fuel filter and poss blockages around the tip of the injectors but would take a look round the intake system first

Don't forget the red, and the black

I've always like the Series 1's. Back when I bought my first gtt, I had to choose whether to get that or a Series 1. One of the reasons I went for the gtt is because the equivalent condition Series 1 was about £500 more expensive. Oh how I kick myself when I see the price difference now

Wasn't a 'normal' grille fitted to Lady Di's car because she wanted it to look like a 'normal' Escort, or something like that?

There were the two red 'DataPost' Series 1's as well.

They were used in the British Saloon car series, which ran before the BTCC:

Actually, thinking about it, I'm sure I read somewhere that the director, or some other top bod at Royal Mail, got given a red Series 1 by Ford as a promotional thing

Oh, I can't remember. It's been a looooong time since I was into my Fords
