It will now be a couple of weeks before I put the big order in and we can get more if demand is there .
Sample should be with me next week ,I'll have a gander then ship it over to 5279 to check fitment .
Just sent payment

Yep, that makes 18 paid in total ,not all from that list so looks like we may be getting a few more to keep in stock
They will be available in the shop at this price for members so don't worry if funds are tight for some at the moment
im still having one but as theres no rush i wont.. going to the bank is something i always avoid..
...but we do have a preferred buyers list
put me down for one
I've had an email saying sample has been shipped
yay
Postie was sharpish this morning
Raceland stamps .
Flange is not the flattest I've seen but seems OK at the pipe ,just runs off where the shape is thin .... All the welds look good
Anyway I will send out to be test fitted today or tomorrow .
looks very nice! but losing that distinctive burble is not worth the looks imo
One of you should think about doing a back to back RR test...
..
lussssh cant waaaaait haha
Lee what is the weld penetration like?
Is there much / any seepage going through into the interior, ie, in the gas flow?
Any sharp steps that need to be rounded?
...and suddenly all the nay-sayers come out to play
I'm not bovered .....I've got a proper MANS system on a proper MANS motor that does make a difference
I think you might find that it's just for the difference it makes it's a waste of £350 to £500 but not a waste of £120.
No-one then has changed their tune. It might still be a 4th division mod, for some engine configurations anyway, but now the admission price is 4th division not premier league.
Also, people love a bargain, and at up to 75%, or whatever, off, this does seem to be one.
And with so many being fitted at once, surely there will be a few before and after measurements?
That's what was so continuously conspicuously absent from KTec and their customers.
It should be borne in mind that there are two different internal bores of the OE 5GTT manifold. I forget just now which is larger but that may partly account for why some people notice a change when others don't, when the rest of their equipment is similar or the same.
And that OE manifold is really poor at flowing from the gearbox end cylinder. I fed an air line into each inlet of a standard manifold and felt the air flow exiting the turbo end. The far one was best. The near one to the turbo just stalled and didn't exit.

You can re shape it though with not a lot of work, in for back to back dyno results though.
i think any equal length tubular is going to improve flow and thats worth £120.
..
Yes ,no ,maybe ,sometimes ,sometimes not .......

I'd just like to say, in case anyone misunderstands: I'm not a naysayer. I'm the opposite.
My comment suggesting back to back tests was in the hope that this group buy might end up providing some additional and useful insight/information/knowledge for the wider club on this previously contentious subject.
I think, like Ian says, for £120 this is a good punt. If there is a question over the efficacy of the manifold design, the club could always test this sample before placing the big order...
..
Depends who's writing it
OJZ ? Id certainly take notice of him
well already got the ktec mk1 manifold so be interesting to see if fitment is better and if it last longer without cracking.
We are testing fit but not function .
Could do this I suppose but that will take months unless someone can pop both a std and this on a RR in the next couple of weeks ??
Can we not just leave this up to those that have paid their hard earned to comment as and when ?
Who knows for certain here and now ? Anybody ? NO !
I know it's being trial fitted to a member's car but does this 'test' include back to back rolling road sessions to approximate potential differences in power/torque?
Edit: Just seen Clee's post. So no then. Dawn, you knew what I was talking about and if you knew what the club test involves then I don't know why you posted what you did.
Anyway, I'd better butt out of this as I'm not buying one of these manifolds, I was just showing a bit of interest from a club perspective. It should be noted that my original suggestion was aimed at one of the members doing a test once they'd received their manifold. I wasn't trying to muddy any waters or cause problems with this group buy. The idea the club might do it upfront was merely a subsequent idea in response others' comments regarding whether these things have any tuning value.
Maybe the thread should be locked until things have moved forward to save any further misunderstandings.

Try and keep up Trev
I just think it's a bit late in the day for all these with a new found interest in this thread to start making comments
This I thought was a good positive CLUB effort from all involved and now we get rumblings when the last post is in sight .....................albeit from those with no interest in the subject up until now
..
..
That's a silly argument that implies that anyone that sells anything is full of it ......
I've used them so have first hand experience ,the only reason I posted the link .
OE MART
Some companies do know what they are doing and can improve over std
Ok, we cool. I wasn't trying to rock the boat; just putting the 'other side' perspective to it.
Anyway, I've deleted all my previous comments in this thread, and yep, it is a good thing the club is doing for its members
Good darts
Trev, actually I thought you just hadn't read all of the thread so less of the entirely unecessary beef please, I was actually quickly just updating the thread on my phone and was attempting to help. It genuinely was nothing else but that.
Some really valid points have been made and I too would be interested to see if one of the buyers is able to get to an RR road at any point in the near future. May end up being a good selling point if all turns out well
clee will you be letting members know when the order will be going in? i may well have one if i can stump the cash in time. thanks
If all good when Jonathan has test fitted then I aim to place the order early next week .That order will be for 25+ so we will have some in Shop stock at the same price .
I hope i did'nt kick off all this today? nothing major i know, but still?
i think it looks really nice but i love the noise of the standard fanimold so would'nt get one for that reason.
i hope you all like the sound of it though.
