hi mate i use my car every day too im running the t28/t3 roller bareing on mine. if you can afford to go this far i would go for one. they are great.

I have just collected a ktec180.
its runnin standard cam, carb and internals at the moment, fitted a mocal oil cooler and ive got a cossy fmic waitin to go on, a massive jr cone filter, waitin for a sidey off lamps,
would like it to stike between responsive and power if possible, lamps has got a t3 and i think its abit to much, i like how it pulls but dont want it to spin up in every gear
For standard cam and moderate boost i would go for T2/T25 combination, ideal for the road as still gives good response being a T2 on the turbine side.
having had a few differnt turbos,, id say T25 is the most ideal sizefor the 5..
I've gota 285 cam and followers to go on with a port and polished head with inlet manifold to match, got a spare carb to rebuild to any spec to suit the turbo. Not gona use it for daily driver so it can be more powerful now, what turbo shall I go for, maybe t28 or full t25? And what shall I do to carb?
Either the T28 or a full T25 will work well with the 285 cam, obviously the T28 will be a tad laggier and full boost a tad later than the t25 in the rev range.
You got a wideband AFR kit??
No not yet, I'd like one but don't no which one is best for sub £200, heard the ones efi parts scoff sells are best?

As you say get one from Scoff either the AEM or the Zeitronix kit. I use the AEM kit and have no complaints with it but the Zeitronix kit has alot more functions and can read other things aswell like, boost, egt's, revs', etc.. were the AEM is purely a wideband kit only.
With ref to differences in T28 and T25 turbo's I suppose it is all down to size of the housings and wheels used, but in general the T28 will obviously flow more air than the T25 purely due to the size of the compressor housing, the T28 compressor housing will be a T3 front and the rear housing will be something like a T25 .49 rear hence the T28 nameing as it's a mixture of the 2 different turbo's the core will more than likely be a T25 type.
From what I have heard the T25 with a .49 rear will have full boost by about 3500rpm's and the T28 will be about 4000-4500 rpm again cam choice will also effect this.( or was that will spool from 3500rpm on the T25 and spool from 4000-4500rpm on the T28)
Hopefully someone with a T25 and 285 cam will advise and the same with the T28 and a 285 cam hopefully someone with these combo's will priovide some info

So if a t28 is t3 front and t25 back is there such thing as a full t28?

Adam L @ Turbo developments is very good and I have one of there VNT turbo's and recomend them. I know 5tevel in the past ran a full T25 with .49 rear housing and a piper 285 cam combo and made 207bhp @ track n road in essex I know he went up the strip with this setup but can't remeber his time but it back up the rolling road printout figures.
Personally T28 just seems to laggy for me on a C1J I would go for the full T25.
as said for the road either a nice specced t25/t2 or a full t25 is your best bet

out of interest how much earlier does a rollerbearing t28 hit full boost than a normal t28
to be honest i cant even tell you, i put the engine in last year and never got round to driving it. an i hope your wrong! but will bare that in mind. just looked at the blue 5 u had. what bhp that have? looks fairly tuned. like the intercooler. i thought the skyline 1 i had was big
It was my old high comp engine, ran 8.1:1. Had cam, head work, slotted flywheel, rejetted carb and VNT. Done pod in 12.3@11mph. For me head work wasn't totally neccessarily for that engine in the end but at time thought try it.
My campus engine was standard comp, lightened flywheel, cam, standard head and rejetted carb on T28 and that was about 220bhp, done pod in 12.6@108mph.
Mark, further to my above comment, was the engine standard internally? i.e. std pistons/liners etc. Only when i was talking about power above 180bhp people warned me that the liners would not take much more power.
Yep on both engines they used standard liners and pistons.
Only difference with the high comp engine is the pistons were flat topped.
The engine from the campus now is slightly different spec as it had refresh but its sold now so not tested it properly but does feel good, new owner will like it.

That's the problem near me, none of the local rolling roads give me the faith to set it up properly, plus i don't have a wideband. I'm holding on to some offers from some friendly folk Swindon way
