    Jack Frost Stages - 16 Jan 2011 - Croft

    Hi peeps,

Just wondering if anyone else is going to compete in this event? I didn't make the Christmas stages due to the wife's car blocking the garage in the snow, so i was pit crew for my brothers Mk2 Escort. Hopefully i will have the car running EFi before this event so should be interesting to watch, but no anti lag yet.

Tony/Blot - are you still in the game?

Anyone wanting to come down on the day get in touch as i will get free tickets (save a tenner..!)

The good news is I made it out of bed and am nearly over the flu, drive to Yorkshire went smoothly thanks to an awesome BJ Trailer (Jesus is a LEGEND), took the 5 for a spin to check set up for the wet (less neggy camber and boost, more advance, spacers for wider track) and WOW! It is flying, r888 are great in the wet and have some dunlop x22 ready to be cut in the morning. Fingers crossed we will have a good day out!

    Blot ARE YOU COMING?

Anyone wanting tickets (I have 4 spare) give me a text, I am in ripon tonight or we can arrange a meet in the car park, save a few squid!

Mart / Brigsy, you popping down for a cuppa ? Would be good to see the Ooop North gang again!

Just a quick post as we have stopped at the service station, 3rd place finish in class (with all turbo cars) 20th overall, put in some amazing stage times and some not quite so amazing too (spin here and there!) awesome result, minor damage to the car but I went like stink, got to repair a rear quarter panel and plastic trim! very happy! The in car footage should be good, out hauling an evo 10 round a long curve and straight!!!

Hey brigsy, shame would have been good to catch up, did you know someone there? Got loads of feedback from spectators! I am hoping there will be a few utube uploads!

Unfortunately my in car camera has recorded 3.8MB of somthing, but i can't get access to the files - i am going to have to take it to a shop to get sorted out

Car looks worse in the daylight though, no drivers sill or rear arch trim, and a big dent in the quarter and a small dent in the door, o and the front splitter part of the bumper disappeared when we hoovered up a tyre! time to give Mike a call for some replacements and get my spray gun out!

Didnt get time to go EFi so was on the carb, need to get it ripped off and posted as it is now sold...

There is a small video sequence here with all the spins after an engine went bang and left oil all over the tarmac!

looks quite good without the arch. No rust and the wheel fits nicely

Thanks Tony, it should after all the work Boris put in re-buildong it with me Honest the guy is a legend, a metal magician! I'll upload a picture of how it looks after an altercation with some tyres on the rear quarter... shame as it was the second to last corner, we had overtaken a C2 Citroen chasing 3rd in class and because we did it got us the finish we needed, but we were too sideways and went wide, clipping a stack of tyres and the dent is not nice! \

It was a great day for R5's though upsetting so many big money posh machines, and it made me feel good when the spectators were coming into the service area saying so, asking about the car and saying how refreshing it is to see a humble 1.4 showing them up.

All I can say is a MASSIVE THANK YOU to all the RTOC/GTTOC who have helped over the last 10 years, without which i would have never been able to get the 5 'in the ring' let alone competitive, cheers to all those PMs that have been so crucial.

Vids will follow - my mate is on the case for the in car footage and MADVIDEO have emailed me about some 'quality footage'

Just been and given the R5 a wash, the dent is a little bigger than i thought! Still looks OK on the other side though

Should have it knocked out and looking good before the summer

Lucky with your oil cooler pipes, might be an idea to flip your cooler the other way up?
