Ive just spent $2000 just on a few engine parts..... is that classed as progress... old motor all gone now mate.. We will be breaking the ek vti S soon... the cars are sat in unit side by side and we will get the b18 fitted and running soon just to make sure everything ok with the s300 and looms, shafts mounts etc.. then the engine build will start..
If you have a spare loom that would work with my motor I would be intrested. Have you sleeved the block?
We might have the b18 spare? unsure at min tho, also a p30 ecu? big brake conversion?
Yes ill be sleeving the block, darton Mids.. not running stock bore tho..
84mm or bigger? Are you using the 87 or 89 mm crankBig brake conversion?

The B18 was fitted today, all went well, up and running and test drove.. now time to pull it back out..

Nothing exciting just how the car is now, The engine will becoming out tomorrow and prob make a start to tidy the bay and give it some paint. Also we will be painting all inside the car soon, fitting new seats and a new carpet (black) pos flock dash etc.. Also we swapped the selector rods and stick from the VTI so now we have a shiny gear knob
My darton MID sleeves should be here soon so i can make a start on the sleeving, also the CP pistons, Eagle Rods, Edelbrook Victor X intake, ARPS, cometic gasket should be here anytime.. We have lots of changes we need to make to the car. A second fuel pump will be fitted (bocsh 044) work with our current Welbor intank pump, also a change of lines will be needed.. We going to change all the intake to 3" bore, (so all the old pipe run will be up for grabs - rs250nut).. Im really hoping to be running the Borg Warner S372 (72mm) from the off next year, poss with a set of ID2000cc... Unsure of exhaust mani yet, have a few ideas, maybe sweet talk scoff to help fab a nice one ...
well to be honest, we would of liked smaller steps i think, so as to learn the car, and gain more experiance as we go, as with these higher and higher powered cars, suspension, traction, tyres, and even aerodynamics take much bigger effects, our old 132mph car was just starting to get interesting with traction (needing boost control by gear), and then i wanted to have a play with controling boost via rear wheel speed, as boost by gear is all well and good, but controling boost through a spinning wheel wont work
so we would of liked to go 67mm ideally, and stay t3 flange, and maybe hope for a 10.2 pass or so as a PB. and simply learn the car more, and the technology, study what improvments we find from intake manifolds changes (plenum sizes ect).
but quite simply if we do that, we will get left behind in a big way by the rest of the field, so we will be going "all out" from the off next year, and will need to learn fast, and hope the gearboxs/shafts etc hold up to the power we expect to make. if we start breaking box`s were screwed, as the aftermarket uprated gears and casings are crazy ££££
Yep, the budget side of things have reached the limits by the sounds of it mate, into big money from now... Time to drum up some sponsers

Rob, what's the "GSR" box ? There's guys running 160mph + and 9.x on stock GSR boxes isn't there ?
thats the type R` box, we have a variant of that, and yeah, people have run big numbers on it, but i dont think they get many passes per box.
looks like were going to need to bite the bullet and start to learn to rebuild gearbox`s
Christmas has come early .. Came home to the first batch of parts.. Our engine is ready to be stripped so make a start on this over weekend then drag the block to work so we can get cracking with the sleeving..
There is a decent write up on ht about stripping and rebuilding a b series box, im going to pull mine apart soon so I can have a nosey and give it a bit of a clean. This is my only real concern at the moment, if **** starts braking a decent gearset is around $8000 dollars, I dread to think also on top for a billet bell housing. Nice update though bud, I wish I had a car.

After a trip to Tweeks to check out some seats etc we made a start on the interior and picked up this for the ricer.. Just to make sure we can stay in a stright line.. finaly we can start binning that awful interior that comes in these EG`s...
So made a start on cleaning the bay up ready for paint. We have filled all the holes and unused bolt holes in, and basicly we going to make it look clean and tidy and re route the loom, we house the fuse box etc.. Ive orderd the new turbo, Borg warner 72mm, 1.1 AR turbine... the first of still a huge list of parts we need....
Should look good mate, how do you go about wire tucking it, is the loom pulled through the leg? Going with a straight white again
Ok so now the car has had its paint, just inside and under bonnet, Good work dean!.. The next set is to start the interior, we are going to buy some aftermarket black carpet and line the floor, also we may make the dash and door cards look more tidy. We now have the new pumps (two bosch 044 pumps) we going to mount under the car and fit new lines. The feed line will become the new return (-6) and a new feed will be fitted (-8) also a new reg (not a rail reg).. While the car is still stripped down im going to fit a staging brake in the car along with a bias valve and new brake lines..
The engine still hasnt been started yet, the machines at work have been way to busy with the back log or porsche engines needed to be complete for the new year. I hoping to get cracking with this in jan..

I thought you were going for a -10 fuel rail? Have a look on eBay for fittings, I just brought a load for quarter of the price they would have been new from the states. Shell looks good bud, are you painting the exterior or is it clean?
Well after speaking to Tony T1, he runs all -8 with -8 rail... We was going to go -10 till we found this out, plus more rails available at 8.. As for fittings we only going to buy a couple and use jubles here and there lol.. should be reet... them fittings soon add up in price, its around 200 quid to just kit it out with all them..
The shell isnt brill but better then most others, we plan to wrap the car somtime in the future..

Bit like millers eg hatch without the orange? I did see a clio or was it a gtt with a camo paint job inside, looked quite good.

just out of interest what rpm do you expect that to spool up by compared to a ball bearing type? and what is your predicted flow and pressure ratio for your engine

isnt that extended tip technolgy ,what garret have used with the gtx range
mine was supposed to be around 44lb flow and a pressure ratio of 3.5 to get 400 bhp seemed a little high for me that was using the formula's on garrets web page,
but changing the 2.0 litre for a 1.8l and keeping the same maximum rpm rating of 7200
If you look up Jeff Evans tuning and take a peek at the dyno sheets it will give you a good idea of what this puppy can do, just scroll down the page a bit and bear in mind this is wheel horsepower not crank horsepower.

i dont believe they do a BB version of the 372 we have, other 72mm units yeah. as for comparision ive no idea, as ive never ran such a large unit, or indeed ever ran this engine at all period . I dont expect to see over 10 psi by 6k revs, but we will rev upto 10500revs or so, so as long as i have 2500rpms on full boost (30+)im happy, with means i have upto 7500k or so before i need full boost which should be no problem, we have opted for the t4 divided flange though to help with spool, though again without the non-divided to compare too we will never really know, other than from what ive read from others who have swapped non-divided to divided.
im simply using other peoples experiance, as its quite a common turbo on the engine were building (b18), so tried and tested as such, as 72mm inducer is the class limit in the USA, and as such is what all competitors run, whether Borg warner, garrett, precision etc, all the same size.
