    wiring aftermarket oil pressure gauge

Ok i bought a gauge because the o.e one has stopped working most of the time.

Theres 3 connections on the back labeled G, I and S so im guessing the S goes to sender, G = ground/earth and I = ignition live?

when i connect it up to one of the sender connections the needle just goes over to past maximum and does nothing connected to the other.

Is the sender or gauge knackered or am i doin it wrong?

Is there any way of testing the sender?

Does the aftermarket gauge not come with its own sender?

I doubt the O.E sender will match the outputs resistance the aftermarker gauge is looking for. On the autogauge i put in last week G = signal from sender WK?? = ground and the red wire was power too it. It came with its own sender unit.

As Nick said the O.E sender may not have the correct output to drive the gauge, the O.E sender may not even be working if you say the O.E gauge stopped working.

What make is the aftermarket gauge?

Thanks Nick it looks like I need to find a sender that has a rating of 10-180ohm

btw that WK is low pressure level warning according to some of the 2 connector types on ebay.
