    Fuel headache

had my car in a garage for 6 weeks to get sorted went today still the same not starting am f@@king fuming, getting dropped off tomorrow, it reeks of petrol even when i take the oil cap off that stinks of fuel aswell, when i try start it it s just popping ang banging obviously over fuelling, pipes are not attached and could be wrong , feel like breaking it, but ive spent a fortune on parts for it, bought it as a project but iam slowly losing interest

any idea what it could be ?
im assuming the fuels leaking thro the carb into the inlet then into head

Popping/banging sounds like the firing order could be wrong. If you can sort me out some petrol money (skint at moment) ill pop down & get it going mate.

I am with Colin & Brigsy on this one you could have the leads in the correct fireing order but who is to say that the dizzy gear is in the correct position and that your engine is @ TDC when number 1 lead on dizzy cap is closest to the rad position.

    Try as Colin suggests.

    No that is number 1

Number 1 is the cylinder closest to the flywheel

Here's another piccy of the OE pipework without the Cup Mod so you can compare the Market!

I would HIGHLY recommend you give Dr Brigsy some money for petrol & chips & invite him up for a look, you'd be surprised at what he can do, especially if he brings his Wideband Sensor!

    Re: Fuel headache

if it trys to start swapping 1&4 over then swap 2&3 if it runs fine . pop your dizzy out (11mm bolt) and rotate your dizzy drive though 180°.
bit fiddly to do it rotates and lfts at the same time . long nose plyers usualy works

when you get it right leads 2&3 will be on the same side of the dizzy that the cyl there going to (as in your photo).

    Re: Fuel headache

right spent bit time putting my new pipes on , intercooler , leather seats bit of a tidy up in engine bay, havent bothered trying to start it
BUT i literally think its because the engine if full of petrol , when i picked my old intercooler up to put it in the shed it was literally half full of petrol, there was petrol below the shaft under the distributor cap when i took that off
so tomorrow im gonna drain the sump cos im guessing its just neat petrol, god knows what the hell the previous owners been doing
put new, plugs, dizzy, rotor arm and leads on today aswell, hopefully when i drain it and fill it with fresh oil and change oil filter and fuel filter itll fire up
