To do that RS4 it cost £1700 all in!! cheap i thought as a full respray would be at least twice that

you wont ever get swirl marks and it not only completely changes the car the vinyl wraps completely protects the paint work, if you get bored of it just peel it all off!!

Re: Never thought wrapping a car would look this good!!!

Iv seen a fue wraped cars up close and to be honest the finish was a bit "tacky" im not saying this car is the same. i saw a lambo up at a jap show last year and thay didnt do the door shuts also they had a live display of them doing it and i spoted at least 3 bubbles in the bit he did, take the pic of the grill in the bumper on this one the line between the white and the carbon looks a little (for lack of a better word) "wrong". i like the idea of wraping, that you can buy a new car have it wraped and take the wrape off just before you sell it and it will be pristine but im yet to see one that will convince me to get it done.

Re: Never thought wrapping a car would look this good!!!

Wrapping can be done very well, all depends on the uality of the wrap and the person wrapping the car!!

Another bonus of wrapping is if you have a minor accident, is that you can simply wrap a panel after without painting (handy for track day people)...

Oh and it only takes a day or 2... how long does it take for a rull respray these days?

I'm on about a professional doors off, engine out respray. Not a sh1te job in someones garage.

I had my 5 sprayed with doors off, engine out, all interior out, windows out, basically stripped completely to a rolling shell for £900. That wasn't mates rated either

Granted it's not a factory finish in places, but it's not a 'garage job' either. Also, I stripped it to a rolling shell.

Price of a 5 respray compared to an RS4 respray would be in miles apart

Why would it? Sure, it's a larger car, but it's not THAT much larger. If you have someone who did a good paint job on your 5 for £1000, I don't see why a good paint job on an RS4 by the same bodyshop should be any more than £1500? I bet there would be less prep due to damaged panels, etc on an RS4 as well...

Re: Never thought wrapping a car would look this good!!!

The wrap looks good to me, probably a silly question, but they must fade and not have the shine as paint, or can they be polished?

As for a paint job on that i would expect between 3-5k, the best place i can think off round my way, would be closer to the latter.

Im paying £750 for my gt inside and out and engine bay, and it is a shell on wheels at the mo.

It wouldn't necessarily. As Penfold says, it depends where you take it.

Re: Never thought wrapping a car would look this good!!!

I did my GT3 white a couple of years ago. Wraps can look good, but not if you look close up where you might find small bubbles. You get a bit of dirt at the seams too and they can lift slightly on complex shapes over time.

White is one of the worst colours to wrap because it always looks a bit flat- think satin, not gloss. This is why a lot of people deliberately pick matt colours when they wrap.

I turned it into a police car for a bit.

Exactly, you would never take a rs4 in for a £500 paint job, just as you would take a r5 gt in for a 4k job.
