Braved the snow/cold and fitted the engine today.
Couple bits to sort, mainly the 108db I had last time there when noise tested
RR next to check all ok,
Sounds good Dave, what exhaust have you got on the cup ???
Anyone seen the forecast for this yet? Do we think the snow will have cleared, I dont fancy dancing on ice part 2, but a shakedown for the new, new brakes sounds a good idea...
Can you PM the code please!
I'll PM you the code Alastair
It's still off the range of any forecasts that don't involve a crystal ball but the predictions for a couple weeks from now are showing much warmer so I'm hoping to have no ice or snow...........
We are down to the last dozen spaces for this one now so if you want to come along please book it sooner rather than later!

Its typical... anopther brands day and prob snow... it snowed last time i went on t cups first outing and that brought then end to proceedings. lets hope for better luck this time.
Running the straight through sidey with a big downpipe, and have been told it sounds like a tractor around the paddock on many occasions
Sounds good on track though

Ha, I remember that day...'improvised noise reduction' and chasing down Tiff Needell in the Ferrari......until Tiff was black flagged for being a bit too ragged....and you had a passenger!! Good old 'Yello peril'! Bless her.
Fair do`s mark, i just want to know if there is an easy way, if not the gay spec is going on this weekend...
i have heard a coke can cut in half and shoved over the tip with a jubilee works, but never tried it myself. also heard on wire wool shoved in but again i have not tried myself.
Matt, probably going to have to put a silencer/ box in, had too many warnings now.
The db was ok when I bought the car in standard cup form, its only since we upped the power its got noisier. Defo worth bringing bag tricks to quieten it down if it dont make the limit.
Depends on the guy with the noise meter, some are ok, some are not.
Last time out, we modded with wire wool, guaze and jubilee clip to pass the static noise test. Melted it on the first full on session, so was back to a full on sidey and no probs on track.
Brand have never openly tested for noise on cars i think they pull you in if the car is like a fog horn...................i've used the original 2 inch side exit loads of times at brand etc, without any problems the only side exit that has caused any issue on track days is the Ktec ... TK had a rare one....was it a sidewinder or something.???again 2.5 inch, one piece, mega noise.....
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/produc...ode=JETU935130
these work wonders on the ktec etc.........had one my self on the k tec no noticable loss of power and alwas below the limits i think i scored 97- 99 with them....

cheers guys ,were doing some prep work at my friends garage this weekend so i may measure on his system and go from there, i think demon tweeks do silencers etc ill check their website, i want to do all the circuits in my guide over the next few years so ill have to get it right soon, steve h says its 106db at brands so ive something to aim for, what with environmental pressure nowadays is only going to get worse with regards to how much more strict they get i guess, cheers for all the input guys and thanks for the offer bill....
106dB is quiet lenient nowadays, i'd imagine a lot of tracks are on the 100dB limit
Combe is really low at 95db
Matt, only the tailpipe is slightly oval, the rest of the system is round
When Kris nabbed my exhaust at Combe, I asked the marshalls and they were saying 100dbs...
seriously there wont be problem with noise................
i cant wait.... ...................
They have been since last year.... I've been pulled on it on two trackdays there now... they've been noise testing in the pitlane at the assembly area before letting you out..., the devil side exit is usually around 104-106db with the standard turbo.. you can get it down to 103 with a db insert, if you aren't running a standard T2 with a side exit would personally have something on standby just in case...
It's 105db max at 3/4 revs static. as far as I know they have no testing once you are on track but these things are getting stricter every year
For anyone wanting to stop locally the night before we've got a deal with the hotel that's right next door. £60 for single B&B or £70 for two of you.
This is at the THISTLE BRANDS HATCH, we have got some rooms on hold for the Thursday night so to book one please phone Stephanie Keep on 01474 855 700 quoting TAOL040210. After 21st Jan they will no longer be reserved so it's just down to if they have any rooms left - to check phone the same number and quote "Track Rate of £60 BB" to get the reduced price.
