    Garret A/R.48M27 turbo?????

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

I was hoping someone could tell me if any modifications are needed to fit the Garret M27 turbo, believed to be off a volvo and included in the sale when when I brought my R5, the only reason I need to know is that my Renaults original turbo has a crack in it that fluid is escaping from. it needs to be replaced but to save money I will fit the spare turbo that was included if it is a pretty straight forward job to fit it.

Incase there is another name for this turbo the number in the title is what is written on the actual turbo itself.

M27 means nothing, it's just part of the casing mould.

Thanks for that. I can't see any other markings on the turbo but I took the one off my car and under closer inspection there differences between the two units. the one off my car, an original one has a hairline crack down where the the top oil feed is.

As stu is probably gona say bypass the water hoses going to the turbo. Just change your oil every 3000 miles instead of 6000.

I will try to by pass the water today as I need it running so I can move it around and work on it. Thanks for the advice guys, at least I haven't got to spend out on a new turbo just jet. Thanks again.
