Drilling and tapping stage 2 jet

guys ive got a spare carb witch ive stripped down and would like to drill and tap the second stage for a AC jet to fit (for future use)

what is the thread type/size on the AC jet?? would just like to find out before i get my tap&die set. is the thread on the AC a unusal type? or a common one?

    cheers Mark

Has your tap set not got a set of thread gauges with it?

    Hi Mark,

I have done this previously on a few carbs with good results and some where it just hasn't sealed enough,

Of the top of my head I am thinking its either M4 x .7 or M5 x .7 spring to mind the drill bits needs to be .5 smaller than the tap.(cheers for the reminder russ)
Failing that take an a/c jet down to a good tool supply and see if they can match the thread.

The only real benefit is if you have a carb which has had the 2nd stage drilled out to large there is no way of going back (standard 2nd stage jet is fixed / non removable), basically the carb body is scrap if you drill and tap the 2nd stage this brings the carb body back to being usable and gives you more of a option to change the jet sizes when tuning.

Its M4 x 0.7, thats what I used when I made a set of spare jets.

James, nice edit from 1.5 to 0.7, after you read my post?

I've just uploaded a drawing of the Main & Air Corrector / Enrichment Jet in case anyone wants to make some or get some made.

    https://www.rtoc.org/files/Technical%...20Jet/jets.pdf

Ooh forgot to add , drill size for M4 is 3.3

So what benefit does adjusting the 2nd stage add?
