here is a link that scoff has sent me with the loom in place, he has done a great job in hiding the loom to keep the engine bay as empty as possible for me, and if all goes well i will have a video later today of the car up and running

Phil asked that I upload a video of it running, so here we go !

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JN0xi...ature=youtu.be

It looks like there might be some port wall wetting with the injectors being so far from the inlet valves (slight stumble after ovverun before idle returns and transient throttle being a pig to set) but I think that should improve once I get a map done. If not, Phil, you might want to think about adding an idle control valve so we can introduce some idle-calm down/dash pot effect.

Re: bringing my 5 back from the dead

received a pm from scoff last night letting me know the car now has a base map and has now been running for a good couple of hours with no real issues apart from idle is not as crisp as chris could get it but i think for now i can live with that but i do have good oil pressure and the engine temp is good as well and should be able to collect the car next thursday, so hopefully soon it will be on the rollers for some full throttle mapping and see how it goes

Idle is fine phil, what I was saying was that idle was poor if I tried to lean it out to where I wanted it. That's just an injector thing, not worth worrying about

Re: bringing my 5 back from the dead

Evening all just received a pm from scoff the car had it's first mapping with boost today and mate quite some good power but it looks like I may need to look into a bigger compressor front end to find some more bhp but so far I'm really pleased as its making almost 270bhp at 25 psi but with some more mapping to come over the next few days hopefully Chris can find a few more bhp. Here are some pics so far cheers Chris

Well yeah, it wasn't responding to any more boost at those lower RPM's so the gradual boost curve is deliberate (controlled by ECU). There wasn't any point in sticking 25psi in that early. It's also a result of the VNT, if you consider how it controls boost. As the vanes open it'll want to breath better and so torque doesn't drop of as quickly as it would with a smaller fixed turbine. The result is a longer, flatter torque curve.

It responded to the extra boost higher up though. Advancing the cam might ruin power output higher up so I don't think he should do that. His engine generally is working really well though, certainly carb-fed GTT's dont make anything like that power, but I think he could do better still if he bins the 60trim T3 and thinks about the cam profile a bit more. It wasn't responding to any more than 25psi.

Phil asked me for a quick video of it on the dyno so here goes

Watch out for the sparks though, turns out the oil cooler pipes were arching with the ignition live on the top of the alt. I had to fit some insulated terminals after this run.

Just looks like the throttle cable is attached to the bulkhead. I thought u might get problems if the engine moves and opens/closes the throttle, perhaps there is plenty of slack?

ok mate yer i think it looks like its attached to the bulkhead but its not it just loops round near it and then is connected straight to the bracket on the inlet manifold

Do it in stages like me Brigsy. Within a year or so you'll be fully efi without skinting yourself to much.

As I said before phill this has got to be the ultimate road going five (c1j) with so much useable power. It'll be effortlessly quick.
