    F1 in turmoil?

Looks like Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, Toyota, BMW Sauber, Brawn GP, Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso have all declined to enter F1 next year, and instead are setting up a rival series, thanks to Max & Bernie's cr8p idea of capping budget at £40m

That leaves Williams, Force India, and three new teams USF1, Campos () and Manor in the, as we know it, F1 championship.

    Beginning of the end maybe...?

Very possible, or if that irritating little ****e bernie (who'm i met at horse racing about a year ago and found him to be a compleate w a n k stain on society) pulls his finger out and other top officials they my revert back to how it is.

To change and lose that many teams... top teams in such dramatic style does not make sense.

If it happens i know what ile be watching next season..... ballet

It's very concerning ... but we all know Moseley is a nazi and thinks he can dictate that way and Bernie is a little gobsh1te, who clearly lost his marbles a long time ago.

So, at the moment it appears that not only is Bernie going to ruin Formula 1 but also, along with Flavio, they're going to ruin my football club

    Re: F1 in turmoil?

I'm waiting for the nay sayers in this club to come into this thread and say how this giant mess is somehow Hamilton's fault, lol. Oh and that Jenson isn't talented, it's just that his car is so much better and that Rubens is a goof.

F1 will survive in one form or another.

Ok, very roughly, it's like the FA saying all the clubs can only spend £x million pounds on building their team/club. Then Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, etc. saying "Ok, then next season we won't play in the Premiership, we'll setup our own league instead"

    Re: F1 in turmoil?

Its a good result in my opinion now we will still have f1 cars but under a new name. We will hopefully have less stupid rule changes every year like grooved tyres, no off season testing, engine mod restrictions, a single tyre manufacturer and having to use 2 different compound tyres in the same race theres probably more but thats all that comes to mind atm. These restrictions slow the cars down every single year.
And i agree max and bernie
    Bring back turbocharged f1 cars

    Re: F1 in turmoil?

You get used to brinkmanship in FI (USA GP anyone) but this takes the biscuit. Bernie told FOTA dont bluff with me if you make ultimatums you have to be able to back them up just a few weeks ago so I expect they really are going to go. The goverments of China Turkey Bahrain who paid Bernie a lot of money for the F1 circus are going to want their money back. He might end up taking a midnight swim off his yacht ala Maxwell.

This is about getting Max and Bernie out of F1 and I think that the time has come for a change.

There is another possibility in that F1 has always had some strange bedfellows and the whole thing could be an exercise in money laundering and a budget cap is no good for that.

    Re: F1 in turmoil?

If the teams where that serious about pulling out, i think they should do some sort of strike first. Imagine a planned " go slow" for the final race of the season. or something along those lines. By that time Button will have won the championship, and Brawn will be the constructers winners. Imagine that being broadcast to god knows how many countries around the world.

Yep, and his £40m budget c(r)ap idea has been shelved, meaning all the 8 teams originally in question have now signed up for next year's F1 championship.

the rules are as 2009 plus what ever was agreed before April 29th (guessing a bit here, it's from memory). What does that mean?

can you run a 3L V10 Cosworth engine?
    is refuelling banned?
    are tyre warmers banned?

Budgets to be early 90's levels in the future??? who's budget? is 97 early?

it's the normal WTF did they just agree to? The only thing that's clear is that in theory Max is no longer part of F1. I guess Bernie is still minting it.

Not sure exactly mate. I guess it'll all come out in the wash soon (and when you find out, let me know ). From what I've heard though, the teams (FOTA) are gonna have more of a say so as to the runnings of F1, they've all agreed to reduce running costs (I heard about that early 90's thing as well, but how that's gonna be implemented, gawd knows?!), and that the front-runner teams have to pass on engine & chassis (maybe aero too) details to the 'lesser' teams.

Bernie will always be there raking it in for sure, but with Max not standing for FIA Presidential election next year, it does possibly give scope for more sensible improvements in F1 now. Your man Flav fancied himself as head-honcho of this break-away clan, so maybe he'll be the brainwave buffer between FOTA & the FIA?

I thought it was common knowledge that re-fuelling is being abolished from next year onwards.

Looks like Cosworth are making a come-back too.

Look at the dates when those articles were written.

Most of those 'rules' are gonna be null & void now.

    Re: F1 in turmoil?

Because they were written before all the current shananigans between the FIA & FOTA flared up.

For example, it's been agreed that KERS will be dropped altogether at the end of this season, yet that first link you posted says there's a 15kg minimum weight increase to encourage more drivers to use KERS.

Again, quote: "More technical freedoms for teams who agree to abide by the budget cap". As said, the budget cap has now been shelved.

The 2nd weblink is completely null & void as, as I've just mentioned, there isn't gonna be any budget capping next year, hence that webpage is now totally incorrect.
