    hubcentric spacers

Me again with these pesky wheels (wish i'd never bought them now) anyway i've put them on the car and used big washers to pack them out as far as I can to get an idea of the size of spacers I'm gona need.

Ive spaced them out 12mm and they are still way off being in the right place.

I'm going to machine some hubcentric spacers at work and gona have a first punt at 22mm (i can always machine them back down if its too big)...

The question is, with spacers of that size am I likely to get any problems? The thing that I'm thinking is if the spacers are bolted to the hubs with 12.9 high tensile bolts and the wheels bolted to the spacers with normal length wheel nuts surely it would be as good as the standard setup?

Just wanted peoples opinions before I waste my time machining up some chunky spacers.

    Cheers Ashy.

The other thing is if the wheels are 43mm offset and at 12mm spacing (as i have them now) they still look way too far into the body, could there be something wrong with my suspension geometry front and back? because really they should only need 8mm to put them in the right place?

Look how far in the wheel is sitting.

    Pikey spacers

Then the Fronts (this has no spacing)

    Angle to show the gap

Ash on the picture of your rear wheels is the top of the wheel leading into the body as much as that pic shows? I remember seeing Mintys VAG5 at Duncans place and commented on how much his leaded into the body at the top and he hadnt done anything different at the rears either

    Re: hubcentric spacers

this is the thing mate, I've got a set of turbines on at the moment and I thought the offest on them was out aswell. When I've had my car side by side with another R5 they do look like they lean in too much at the top? However, when I've checked the offset its 36mm which is the same as the std pahse 1 alloys i've got in my shed?!?!

I wonder if the rear beam needs to be replaced?

    Lost for ideas now!

    Re: hubcentric spacers

I wonder if it would be worth getting it 4wheel aligned with the turbines fitted to see what the camber is on the rear? I cant see how it could have been changed though??

Juat quickly went to check mine and with oz supperleggars fitted (7J 15 ET37) i think i have bigger gaps than you show??? Thats with a 50mm drop on the front and slightly less on the rear

A very slight rub on full lock mate but nothing serious and has never been commented on, on the MOT.

Hope the pics below help mate. The rear has been raised ever so slightly since those pics though! I can get newer ones tomorrow if you can look passed the dirt

They all sit in at the back mate, Always notice more on heavily lowered gtt's. If they were to sit out furthur the tyre would hit the metal on the rear qtr.

    Re: hubcentric spacers

Completely agree mate, mine is scrubbing the inside of the tyre to buggary! If you look at those pics though each one looks different for some reason i.e. different amounts of camber

I guess theres no way to adjust the camber on the rear is there?

    Re: hubcentric spacers

The only way would be to bend the trailing arms, Not a job id like to do in a hurry. Could shim the stub axles too but i wouldn't fancy doing that either.

Could go wider track on rear though If you want to keep it as low you would have to fettle the arches like.

    Re: hubcentric spacers

Couple of pics of my gtt heavily lowered. If you take away the plastic arch extension the tyres would be near the metal arch like my van is.

Its nowt to worry about though id leave it be
