im surprised you can get them up to a working temp in this weather ??
i was reading on clio sport about the guy with the r26 r megane that had a bump ,seemingly down to the r888s , i mean it even states on the toyo website the tyres should be stored at room temp when not in use unless you got a heated garage how do you do this when they are on the caralbeit im wanting a set but they would be for dry warm track/ road use and not putting my life at risk using them in this weather
roads where dry where i was blastin about!!! sun was out yesturday and 2day untill later onwas only 30mins from home so wasnt 2 bad.
how much did you have to splash out on them ?

i think they 0- degrees to be safe, my car has them on and sits out side open to all the weather, i check all the old ones when i take em off and have never found the slightest sign of cracking, what i will do if i get chance is take one to work and stick it in the cold store, -42 should show what happens when they get cold

well, just my opinion...
been using R888's as road tyres for nearly 3 years on the 9...used them in summer,winter without problems....
rears are still the same first set i fitted, the fronts i have 3 sets and like Adey always checked them as i took them off.....never seen a problem
was driving in snow on the M5/M42 last week in driving snow ...never had a problem....
been on normal roads in icey conditions,,,,i made it where others had a major portion of FAIL : (just for you MartsKi)
done track days when i have had to de-ice the car before i leave...again no problems...
my 9 sits outside, not pampered in any way and never any bad signs of "going to kill me"..
done track days in driving rain and standing water, still cocks a wheel so how much grip do you want in the wet without buying track wet's.....
drive to the conditions with ANY tyre...you'll be fine
the guy with the R26R had a message, saying...a lot of cars had trouble with rears ends twitching on the same roundabout....sounds to me like it was going to happen to someone,he was just unlucky it was him...hope he gets it sorted...

Can only add to what Paul has said - drive to the conditions - the 5 was a bit extreme in real winter (more standing water when they are worn lol)

Mine were fine coming back from the Midlands meet .Sleet ,snow ,slush all good . Just drive to suit .

yeah sunday as i was drivin home in the rain/sleet she seem2 hold the rd ok.... better than the uniroyals in the wet anyways. as long as you dont drive it like you stole it in the wet i think they`ll b fine

I wonder if any of the new r26r owners that took the optional r888's and took delivery off there new pride and joys slap bang in the middle of winter were given any warning on poss dangers of driving with these tyres ??

Would be very difficult to prove that the tyres were at fault warning or no .He could have easily just been driving like a cock in the wet .

i've been using them in all conditions and storing them outside on the car in the snow for a year or so now, never had an issue, outperform every other tyre i've had in all conditions, only thing they dont like is standing water i find

Has anyone has problems with the 195/50/15 rubbing on a lowered 5? I havent made my mind up compared to Toyo 195/45/15 T1Rs as I have a set of 15"slicks for the track...

888's are the don, but am I the only one who reckons Uniroyals (195/55/13) are pretty good as well? The amount of slating they get on here is unreal, but I've personally never had any issues with them; dry, wet, or on track.

i had some budget 185/60/r13s tyres on in summer and performed well in some the flash floods and in the hot weather.185/60/r13s on standard speedlines
Was looking a while back at this. Think i might treat my 13"speedlines to some r888s 185/60s
am running 4 uniroyles in todays conditions. they are ok but only to potter about with in the cold/damp/wet conditions. drive real smooth and no problem, but start using power and conering isnt great
driving at controled speed round coners results in understeer. setting of fast results in side to side action
I've used them on track, also in the rain. No prob's at all.
I'd say the problem may lie more with suspension setups/geometry, rather than the tyres...

You could have used macaroni for an exhaust pipe, and Trusty would have made it good. You could put a Dawson's front bumper on Trusty and.................ok, maybe that's a step too far, but you know the score

i found the uniroyals where ok when the ground was bone dry.... bit of damp on the rd and the back end seemed abit2 sketchy 4 my likin
got nothin2 lose givin the old r888s a blast since as there about the same price.
shame other makes dont do 195/55/r13s.
if you want to do some subtle modding...
R888's do them in 205/60r 13 as thats what on my RS2000......

I also ran Uni's on my Raider, when that was rolling on the 13's (not the Cup wheels), and never had any issues then. Likewise, on the new gtt, it's been zipping around the icy/snow ish lanes up here, and all's good.
