The mixture screw has been removed & the hole filled with silicone????

I know that people put a dollop of silicone on-top of the screw to stop it working loose but as for removing it & just filling the hole with silicone itself that's a new one to me!!

remove the carb and poke a small piece of welding wire through the hole in the bottom of the carb the mixture screw pokes through. this should push it out...

sometimes they can be abit fiddly to remove. the o-ring sort of stop it coming out. you want a small magnetic screwdriver. works for me

    Re: No mixture screw ?

i had this problem when i first bought my car i think its because the screws are renowned for popping out people do a quick bodge and think it runs fine and just leave it without replacing it.

the idle jet can get blocked. is the spring on the accelerator linkage strong retracting properly and not causing it to stick open slightly.

squirt some wd40 down the cable sleeve and on the acc pedal just make sure nothing is holding it open. when it revs high again check the cable pull it back and see if the revs drop back down if they do then its cable assy related. if not start the search on the carb
