    ignition barrel staying on?

Hello all just had a strange issue car is starting and staying on but still trying to turn over. I have to turn the key back abit to stop this issue. Any way to fix as i guess its a spring inside gone inside?
    Thanks

I've never had to change a barrel but I know you can get to it by simply removing the lower plastic cowling (2 screws I think)

Lower cowl off, 4 bolts hold the column, loosen to pull the column down. Put the key in and turn to either position 1 or 2, I think 2. There's 2 small rectangular pronges underneath that need pushing in simultaneously with long nose pliers and it will then slide out.
