    little help

    First post!

hi guys just after a little bit of help, thinking of buying a phase 2 5 turbo from a friend, this would be my first one and just after some advice of what to look out for, the car itself i know has alot of history, the milage is around 80k and its all standard apart from a scorpion exhaust and k&n cone filter.
im buying with the intent on using everyday but also as abit of a project. ive heard alot of horror stories about the little 5 and ive also heard with the right care and regular servicing they can be reliable little motors. wouldnt plan on major tuning just liven it up a little more and to make it as reliable as possible. ive drove it before and thought it was fun having no driver aids and im used to abs, esp and all the other stuff my c2 has any help would be appreciated
    regards phil

    Hi Phil,

Ignore the Bullsh*t about 5's being un relaible.

With the wealth of knowledge on here and discounts/2nd hand parts available to full club members there is no reason why your 5 will be un reliable.

buy the 5, join the club and enjoy, Also come to our National Day, and exclusive hire of Santa pod and see what your car can do.

Yep. 5's can be good as gold when looked after.

As anyone on here will tell you, if you do tune it, and decide to up the boost, don't forget the fueling. That's where they got their bad name from. Chav's turning up the boost, but not altering the fueling to match, so they run too lean and det, then eventually the headgasket dies. This can either be done yourself with the help of an AFR kit and some drill bits (see articles section of this site for help), or by a garage with all the right facilities.

That and look after the cooling system (none of this low temp ultra copper core uprated fancy group A with bells and whistles crap, just O.E stuff in good nick is more than up to the job) and your 5 will be as reliable as a Volvo
