The compressor wheel looks bigger than the 45trim T3 Escort. Looks more like 60 trim 4x4 Cossie. Definitely T3 though, in a T3 cover.

Your rite there mick.....logg was saying about how the turbo spools up so quick he did do his homework and found a great turbo.... im gonna get a price on a rebuild with 360 bearing too....roughly what sort of rpmwise should a t28 be at full boost?? Also how should the boost build??? Rise up to the set psi and when it gets to whatever rpm ie 4000 will it go to set psi or by 4000 should already be at set psi....also a t28 running less than 20 psi will be ****e too??
Apologies for the s.a lol....or if its a stupid question too lol

It's the unit all the tuners were selling back in the day as the 'big' turbo, T3/T25 hybrid. You most likely have a standard T25 turbine shaft/wheel, Nissan Pulsar GTI-R T28 compressor wheel (not Cossie T3 as I mentioned earlier, the shaft sizes differ and it wouldn't fit) and a 360 degree thrust bearing.

If you look at the 1/4 mile leaderboard, some pretty quick cars have posted times with a 'T28'. This is probably the same turbo they were using. 250hp should be possible.

I used one years ago, was a beast. Lazy, compared with a standard T2 but providing you're in the right gear when you plant the throttle, the car pulled so hard. If only for about 2000rpm before having to shift up.

If I remember rightly, full boost (20psi in my case) came up around 4500. Turbo started to spool at just before 3000rpm.

To be honest mick when I picked up the turbo years ago when the lad told me it was a t25...didnt think much of it and put it away in cupboard....when I stuck it on I never looked at housings lol
Anyhow I was saying to my dad it felt laggy as hell an I thought it may have to big a rear housing....didnt start to spool up till 2500 rpm and boost by 4500....I was considering adapting a in car maccy ds straw to blow through to help spool up
Now the cats out the bag its a t3/25 old slaggggg of a turbo explains the lag
Was so gutted at pod too mick....great day for rtoc and to meet all the boostheads
Bad times for my timing slips

Your rite there fella.....ive seen more lively 90 year olds apart from being able to maybe run numbers at pod its gonna be pony at low revs and boost etc.......I do want to build the car around going pod now but a lot of lag to waiton....for only 2/3000rpm of boost.....im unsure of wether to get this rebuilt or save up a bit and get a different turbo
