    Black R5 Bodykit Removal

Thought it was about time I had a look behind the body kit seeing as its never been off the car, still has the original dimpled effect on the skirts. Have only taken one side off so far, cleaned up slightly and then kit back on until I have some more time.

Quite pleased so far. Had a good dig around with the screw driver and found two spots that need attention straight away.

I will remove the red paint from the calipers. Need some suggestion how to get that off?

Got the other side off today. Same sort of thing. Will need minor repairs.

Battery tray is also good underneath. Ill upload some pics later.

    Cheers

Battery tray removed and cleaned up behind. The rusty mark on the original sealer is a water mark I think from rusty water laying in the corner.

I will mask this out tomorrow and treat the bare metal area with some primer, Flat it back and then spray it over for the time being until the whole car gets done professionally.

Wire wheel if you got one, failing that, wire brush and a lot of patients.

I've got a wire wheel. Didn't think to use that.

    Cheers.

Use a wire wheel as said, angle grinder might be a bit dangerous in there so on a drill will be fine or a flappy sanding wheel..

Wear safely glasses, I went hunting for rust on mine and was pulling wire out my face and clothes all the time.. You will lose an eye without.

Treat the rust areas with something like Bilt Hamber rust eliminator to treat before any primer goes on.. I missed a few areas with the Bilt Hamber and the rust came straight through the etch primer.. I've since only got a coat of the treatment on without the primer and after a month or 2 it's still mint.

I finally got everything removed from the car now for a good clean up. It's not going to need much and it's all original.

I also had a scrape around in the inner wheel arch by the front sill to check for rust. Again all looks fresh. I guess there is no point removing it all.
