Hi guys, my steering seems to be able to move up and down and dosent feel very secure. Is there any way to tighten this up?

    Re: Steering column

Unless it's crumbled to bits, you won't be 'hooking it out', trust

I changed both bushes on Whitey's column a few months back, and both were a sod to remove.

Check the rod & u.j splines as well, and replace if the teeth look worn.

    Re: Steering column

check the column is bolted to the car properly, there are two bolts at the top and a set of screws at the bottom that hold the dash in as well, the lower screws were missing on mine and the steering wheel moved up and down.

    Re: Steering column

When replacing mine, I screwed two long wide threaded screws in either side of the column shaft, spray some wd40 in the tube section then got the mole grips on the screws and pulled it out!

Dainty who? I'm a geeza; wouldn't be seen dead in a shop with a name like that...

I thought that was you, but wasn't sure, hence the double-take & intrigued look Even said to Bekki I'm sure that's Matt from the club, but didn't want to look a pillock by saying hello & it wasn't you.

Was you wedding shopping as well?
